How Do You know If Your Idea is Good Enough ?

How do you know your idea is good? As people who engage in creative endeavors, we frequently ponder this topic to ourselves.

The next day, something that seemed like a brilliant plan the day before appears like a complete waste of effort. The truth of the matter is that most ideas are decent, but there are also those ideas that are truly outstanding. The kind of ideas that you know you will regret forgetting if you do not jot them down on the nearby napkin, cigarette package, or toilet wall.

Because of the identification of this trend, a whole series of productivity applications have emerged, such as Evernote, Notes, Wunderlist, and others. These apps have all evolved to appeal to the growing number of entrepreneurial and creative people who at the very least make note of their ideas. Even if they never use those ideas again or do anything else with them.

The question now is, what do you do when you discover that you are in a rut? Being an ideas person could be important to the success of your business as well as to the satisfaction you get out of your personal life.

Here are ideas that will help you drag creativity from its hiding place in your soul out into the great wide open.

1. Spend time with a diverse range of individuals.

There is a wide variety of people who make up the general population, and while the most of us are quite “average” in our day-to-day activities, there will always be those that deviate significantly from the norm. Those strange individuals who rollerblade through traffic while wearing a three-piece suit and leading their dog in front of them are a sight to behold.

People who act in ways that are not consistent with what we consider to be typical frequently provide us with material for reflection. Because of this, movies and television shows have such a large fan base. We live vicariously through them, envisioning ourselves in a new life in which the rules are almost the same as here in reality, but with a greater emphasis on odd occurrences taking place at least once every forty minutes.

Zig Ziglar once remarked that we are the sum of the five most influential persons with whom we surround ourselves. Therefore, the more varied the people you associate with, the more open your mind will be to a variety of concepts.

2. Keep on reading

The ability to travel and experience new things broadens one’s perspective, but if you can not afford to travel or just do not have the time for it, reading a book is an excellent alternative. It has been demonstrated time and again that our brains are unable to distinguish between what we read (see) and imagine and what is actually happening in the world. Because of this, we find ourselves holding our breath in anxious anticipation while reading captivating stories.

3. Write more

Stephen King has claimed that reading is essential to becoming a great writer. Simply putting your thoughts into writing forces them out of your head and into a “brain dump,” making room for you to think of even more ideas. When they are allowed to flow freely, all that is left to do is separate the excellent from the average, much like panning for gold.

What are you going to do with it now?

Let us take a look at a problem that almost all creative people have, which is that they have an abundance of great ideas.

At some time in your life, you have probably come across the proverbial “feast or famine” of excellent ideas. They all appear to slink away and hide beneath mental shrubs when the harsh light of day shines on them, burying their heads in the sand and doing their best to ignore you.

However, you need to seize those concepts by the scruff of the neck, yank them out of that parched ground, and get to work cultivating them.

You need some kind of strategy to work through your thoughts.

David Allen, the guru of Getting Things Done, is the author of a best-selling book on time management. In this book, he explains how idea management may be used to create a task flow that is more streamlined and productive.

To get started, you are going to need some kind of note-taking system. It is common to experience feelings of being overwhelmed when you do not have a way to record your thoughts and ideas. Your head is bursting with all of these ideas that you are continuously juggling, and as you do so, you feel stressed out since you are not taking any action on any of these ideas other than to continually analyze whether or not they are excellent ideas.

Writing down such thoughts is the first step in achieving your goal of getting things done. You should get them stored in some form of software or gadget, even if it is only a note pad and pen that you keep next to your bed.

Next, we will analyze the concepts. You are under no need to get this done right away, and in most cases, it is in your best interest to give these ideas some more thought in the future. This will prevent you from acting hastily and later regretting the choice you made.

Think about what you have got. Make a decision regarding which ones are instantly beneficial, which ones require urgent action, which ones are ideas for “someday,” and which ones can just be thrown out in their whole.

Instead of having a bunch of random thoughts — often about vastly different aspects of your life — competing for space in your mind, this way you are moving your ideas along a conveyor belt, and you will understand how to best prioritize them. This is in contrast to having a bunch of thoughts that are competing with one another for space in your mind.

It is entirely up to you to decide how precisely you want to record your thoughts in order to expel them from your head and generate some of the laser concentration that you crave so much.

The most productive people understand that ideas can come to them at any time, and that it is not always useful to depend on just one method to get things done. As a result, they employ a number of different strategies rather than relying on just one. It is possible that you adore the Evernote app, but can you bring it into the bathroom with you? And if you do wake up in the middle of the night, would your significant other forgive you for pulling up your iPhone and waking them up with the blings of a thousand different notifications?

It is crucial that you just do something — anything to get thoughts out of your head and onto paper (digital or otherwise), and then look back over them after some time has passed to choose what steps to take next.
