Finding Your Self Care Fundamentals
Self care is fundamental. Now let's find yours!

Self-care is essential for maintaining your mental and emotional well-being, but it can be challenging to know where to start. There are countless self-care practices out there, and it's easy to feel overwhelmed and unsure of which ones will work for you.
For me, taking baths has always been a source of comfort and relaxation. But it wasn't until recently that I realized just how important this activity is for my mental health and overall well-being. I take the time to set up and prepare my bath, and while it may seem like a small thing, it can make a big difference in how I feel.
Of course, there are times when I may not have the time or energy to take a bath, and that's when I turn to my cats for inspiration. Cats are creatures of habit and they know what they need to thrive. They make their needs known, whether it's through meowing for food or seeking out attention and affection.
We can learn a lot from our feline friends. Just like them, we all have basic needs that must be met in order for us to live a fulfilling life. And while these needs may not be as simple as food and shelter, they are just as important.
Take some time today to think about what your fundamental needs are. What activities bring you peace and clarity? What helps you to de-stress and recharge? By identifying these needs and making them a priority, you can start to take better care of yourself and improve your overall well-being.
Remember, self-care isn't selfish. It's necessary in order to live a happy and fulfilling life. That's why it's essential to identify your self-care fundamentals. These are the basic activities that you need to do regularly to take care of yourself and stay balanced. They may be different for everyone, but some common self-care fundamentals include:
- Getting enough sleep: Sleep is crucial for your physical and mental health. Try to establish a regular sleep routine and get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night.
- Eating well: A healthy diet is essential for providing your body with the nutrients it needs to function properly. Make sure to eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
- Moving your body: Exercise is not only good for your physical health but also for your mental health. Find a form of exercise that you enjoy, whether it's walking, yoga, or dancing, and make it a regular part of your routine.
- Taking breaks: It's essential to take breaks throughout the day to recharge and prevent burnout. Whether it's a short walk outside, a few minutes of meditation, or simply taking some deep breaths, make sure to prioritize taking breaks.
- Doing activities you enjoy: Make time for activities that bring you joy, whether it's reading, painting, or spending time with friends. Doing things you enjoy can help reduce stress and improve your overall mood.
These are just a few examples of self-care fundamentals, but the most important thing is to identify the activities that work for you. Take some time to reflect on what activities make you feel good and prioritize them in your daily routine. Remember, self-care is not selfish, it's necessary for maintaining your well-being and living your best life.
