Financial Insecurity with Students and Self-Worth

What will be will be.

YOU'RE THE MANNN, AHHHHHHHHH.

It has come to my attention that a lot of students deal with financial insecurities, and it has influenced their day to day lives. Meanwhile, this is a time in their life where they should be experiencing life itself and accepting what they consider a “failure”as a lesson and using it as a tool to mold their future to what they would want it to be and support each other.

Always remember that life is not a rollercoaster, because rollercoasters you get on the same ride with twenty other people and experience almost the exact same feeling they have, that is not how life goes. When you get on a rollercoaster it feels like it has gone on for longer than a minute because of all the insanely thrilling loops that are part of the ride, and at the end of the rollercoaster you stop and think “that was so thrilling I want to do it again.” Now that’s where the main distinction between life and a rollercoaster exists.

You can go on a rollercoaster once, not be satisfied and then do it again and again until you get sick of it, but with life and the thrills that come with it comes age. Don’t get me wrong, age does not stop you from achieving anything in life, but between the ages of 17 to 25, you should not be stuck thinking about why your peers are doing better than you when it comes to certain fields, or why they are already making a certain amount of money at that age and you are where you are. Try to focus on yourself and what you are good at, and make sure you enjoy it.

We live in an age where the youths are very innovative; everyone is trying to be an entrepreneur while still being between the ages of 17 to 23, understandably, this is due to a lot of young successful entrepreneurs that exist in this generation. Although remember, not every life is written to be the exact same, you can see these people as inspiration to keep doing what you are doing and go even harder, but never to stop what you’re doing because you think it is not going to give an outcome as good as theirs or even better.

Most students now have a fear of ending up in a 9 to 5 job, and not being as successful as the next girl or guy. Correct me if I’m wrong, but there would be a lot of imbalance in everyone’s life if we didn’t have the people who work their 9 to 5 jobs. Do not shame what you know nothing about, educate yourself, don’t talk down on other people’s way of life because you have been made to believe that it makes one inferior for some reason. Inferiority is in the mind, you have to own your way of life, your way of thinking.

As a student, you are still growing, your future is still being written; keep working on yourself and towards your goal. Try not to let another person’s financial status or way of life distract you from who you’re meant to be, do not let it make you feel less of an individual because your existence, your craft, your opinion, your interest, these all contribute to making you who you are. This is what makes you unique, respect yourself and your dreams. Age is not the enemy of man but envy is, do what you need to do to rid yourself of the mindset and focus on yourself because everyone’s pace in life is different, so don’t go running in a walking race.
