Google says:

Yes, a smile can heal. It is often described as a “quiet miracle” or natural medicine for the heart. Scientific research suggests that smiling — even when forced — can create genuine, positive physiological changes in the body that reduce stress, alleviate pain, and boost immune function.

I woke up one morning, not happy to be alive. This wasn’t right. I have had a hard life, but I lived a good one. I am always grateful for life. Being alive is a gift for all of us and we should make the best of it, not only for ourselves, but for humanity. But life was sending me a message I couldn’t understand. When we are sad or unhappy, and around certain individuals, our sadness can continue to harm us, affecting how we live and everything we do.

Yes, when we hold on to our sadness, it not only harms us but also everyone and everything we touch.

But if we are aware and can remove ourselves from it, then find ways to disable it, the power and healing properties of a smile can positively transform our emotions. It can make your day better and improve the lives and moments of everyone they come into contact with.

It’s crazy hot here already. I am late, rushing, angry at myself for being late, and life for the hell it often sends me along with the cruel, selfish people in my life. I didn’t want to leave home yesterday. I bumped into a lady with a heavy bag as I turned the corner too quickly without looking clothed in an armor of rage, regrets, and sadness. Her bag fell on the sidewalk, and some of its contents spilled on the ground.

I instinctively paused, then picked her stuff up. She stood staring at me as I gathered all her belongings and put them back in her bag. As I handed the bag to her, she smiled at me.

My head unconsciously eased back as her smile injected something into my emotions, slowly ripping off my armor of rage and unhappiness, pushing my sadness away.

She took her bag, squeezed my hand, and then encouraged, “Slow down, girl, and enjoy your moment of life so you won’t forget the kindness and love in it.”

Her words held me for a moment as my body shed every ounce of sadness and pain that had begun my day.

A smile forced itself on my face, and I held on as if it were a life support machine, saying, “Thank you.”

Her smile turned my day around, filling me with joy, and I shared it with the world.

My Image

A smile often forms from the joy inside our hearts. It is helped with forgiveness, our understanding of life, living, humanity, and our world. It flows from our need to heal ourselves and our world, no matter the hell some humans share with us. It comes from our knowledge of its value to life and living, too. It expands hope, strengthens faith, teaches the value os happiness, and heals from the depths nothing else can.
