There are a few things that can happen when you stay in your comfort zone. You may become complacent, you may stop growing, and you may even stop learning.

Getting out of your comfort zone is important for a few reasons. First, it can help you grow as a person. When you are constantly pushing yourself, you are forced to learn new things and grow. Second, staying in your comfort zone can keep you from becoming truly fulfilled and happy. If you never try new things or face what's making you uncomfortable, you're likely to miss out on so many chances and opportunities in life that you probably will end up beating yourself over.

To help you take those risks that seem so daunting I'm suggesting you here 5 exercises to get you out of your comfort zone!

Change Your Environment

To learn how to confront new situations and adapt to them, there is nothing more effective than starting by changing spaces or environments.

It may seem like a simple thing, but we get so comfortable and even attached to the way our spaces look and feel that we even imprison ourselves sometimes in this bubble.

This is the reason why you can't sleep at someone else's house or why you can't stand to travel and stay away from you house for more than two days.

Start simple.

You can change your furniture, the decoration of your house, the color of one wall or even try to travel more.

Ask Yourself Deep Questions

Time to really look at yourself in the mirror!

There are a few reasons why asking deep questions is important and why we avoid it.

Going beyond the obvious, digging deep and asking yourself big questions is scary and a big step out of the comfort zone.

One reason is that these deep questions can help us face some truths we may be turning a blind eye to. It helps us acknowledge our instincts, feelings and give voice to our fears and doubts.

Asking deep questions makes hiding ignorance, avoidance and denial impossible.

It forces us to look at our lives and where we're going.

It forces us to look at who we are, who we've become.

And it pushes us to make life changing decisions.

Create Your "Uncomfortable" List

Write down on paper everything that makes you uncomfortable in life.

Taking the subway instead of a taxi. Watching a horror movie. Reaching out to a loved one after a long separation. Going on a date.

Big or small, it doesn't matter. Write down every little thing that makes you uncomfortable that comes to mind. Pick a few or just one to do each day.

Acknowledge Your Fears & Face Them

This goes hand in hand with the previous tip, it is just a bit less "obvious". This step concerns not only uncomfrotable things but things that trigger a deep fear in us.

Sometimes we may have fears that we're not even aware of, or that we may be refusing to acknowledge and accept.

Fears that drive our actions and behaviors in a lot of situation.

Fears that have deep roots and are the cause of serious issues in our lives.

For example the fear of failure or the fear of abandonment.

Getting of your comfort zone means it's time for you to acknowledge, accept and face these fears.

You can and should combine this step with asking deep questions to learn the root of your fears. After this, you will maybe realize that your fears are unfounded.

You're likely to realize that your fears are based on assumptions not facts which will make it easier for you to face them.

Or you may realize that you need a more profound and professional help.

In any case, this will be a great step into a better state of wellbeing for yourself.

Connect With Your Community

Whether it concerns a hobby you have, something new you want to learn or a personal issue you're dealing with, you can be sure that there is a community out there sharing the same love or pain, and willing to support you.

Opening up and sharing with others emotionally, be it about something joyful or painful, can seem like a huge step ouf of the comfort zone.

It often leaves us feeling vulnerable. And it is for this same reason that it's one the best exercises you can practice to get out of your comfort zone.

This exercise will teach you to take pride in whatever it is you're loving, doing or experiencing.

It will teach you to be more generous emotionally.

It will teach you to accept help and support and remind you that you're never alone.

And it may just double the fun and bring in wonderful people and unforgettable experiences into your life.
