Self-Care isn't just for women. Here is why men should prioritize self care.

When most men hear the term "self-care," the first thing that pops into their mind is selfishness and wimpiness. But medical experts from around the world have been preaching for years that it is important to look after yourself first. It's not a one-size fits all treatment. Self-care will be different for everyone, and that includes men. Ditch the tough-guy persona, and do not be ashamed about wanting to take care of yourself. It could be taking just a few extra minutes out of your day to concentrate on your own well-being. Treat yourself to something special before or after a stressful event. Here are just a few ideas when it comes to prioritizing self-care.

Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

Eating right and exercising regularly are important to maintaining good health. A balanced diet can help stabilize your mood and will give you the necessary energy when it comes to exercising. Think high-quality protein, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates. Three smart meals each day are important to keeping your metabolism burning efficiently. If you start to get "hangry," grab a snack in between. It is crucial to listen to your body. A healthy diet will also fuel your body during exercise. Exercise does not necessarily mean a complicated workout. It can be as simple as a 15-minute walk in the middle of the day. It is proven that daily exercise produces stress-relieving hormones and improves your overall health.

Listen to Your Body

Performance in bed can change over time. Just like self-care, it is not something to be embarrassed about. With a simple doctor visit, you can regain control and lead a more satisfying life. You will not be telling your doctor anything he or she has not heard before, and they are there to help. Although you are more likely to develop ED as you get older, aging does not cause ED. Many different factors can lead to or contribute to ED, such as diabetes and high blood pressure and the medications to control these conditions. Also, stress, low self-esteem and depression can cause ED. There are plenty of treatments available, including Roman ED. You will be glad you sought help - and so will your significant other.

Pamper Yourself

Treat yourself as good as you would treat someone else. Kind of like the Golden Rule, only in reverse. Do not be afraid to indulge. Consider getting a massage on a regular basis. Not every day, but perhaps two or three times a month. Besides easing sore muscles, studies have proven that massage can ease anxiety and stress, boost immunity and improve sleep. Got your eye on a nice piece of bling, like a special watch, ring or chain? Maybe a tailored suit? These purchases can do wonders for your self-esteem. And, remember what Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders once said: "If you look good, you feel good, and if you feel good, you play good."

Meditate for a Greater You

Meditation could help you relax and "find your center." Sports trainers to elite athletes have been incorporating meditation into their routines for years. The best part is that you do not need to devote an hour of your busy day to this beneficial activity. Just a few minutes of inner reflection can prove valuable in the gym, boardroom or bedroom. Take this time to evaluate your reactions and responses of the previous day, then set goals on how to move toward a better tomorrow.

Hopefully, you have not bought into the adage that self-care is only for women. You have to build a good relationship with yourself to have a good relationship with those around you. Some men do not know how important it is to take care of themselves. Lead by example. Live in the moment, value yourself and be open about it. Reflect on what's happening in your life so you can connect in the moment.
