When we think of witches we generally think of a scary woman using animals and children for her spells. We see a grotesque green face covered in warts. What if I were to tell you that is not a witch at all? You probably wouldn't believe me, right? Bear with me and keep an open mind. I'm about to change your idea of witches forever.

Witches are ordinary people just like you and me. They are not just women either. Being a witch means that you believe in the power of nature and use the universe as your guide. A great example of this would be 'The Force,' in the 'Star Wars' movies! The Jedi use the energy around them to manifest things such as power. There are many religions similar to the Jedi that use magick in their teachings. Wicca is the most common. They use magick in their holidays, worship, and everyday life.

A knowledgeable witch will learn to harness the energy around him/her and use it to manifest emotions, success, healing, and more. One of the most common forms of this is using herbal remedies. . Witches also learn to listen to their intuition. Do you know those weird dreams that you have that happen the next day? That is your intuition. From my personal experience, you should always listen to it. There are other ways you can tap into your intuition. One of these ways is the practice of divination. Divination is a type of magick that uses your subconscious to give you answers. Some witches use pendulum readings or scrying. A very popular form of scrying is burning herbs. A very common herb to burn is sage. Sage is used for smoke scrying, cleansing the home, and ridding it of negative energies and spirits. Many witches do this before performing a ritual, reading tarot cards, or doing just about anything magickal. "Hold up, didn't you just spell magic wrong?" Yes, witches use the spelling, "magick." This differentiates the practice of magicians and the practice of witches. Magicians use optical illusions to trick our brains into seeing things. Witches are using the energy from the universe to manifest something they desire.

I hope that you are now seeing that we witches aren't all that bad. We are not devil worshippers or those green women. We are simply human beings who have devoted ourselves to taking care of the universe, and ourselves. We use our intuition and energies in many different ways and we are all around you. That amazing produce that you receive from the farmer's market in the summer was probably grown by a green witch. Have you ever had a bread that just tasted better than anything? That was probably baked with a little extra love from a kitchen or house witch.

Take this article as you will, but I hope that I have given you a more positive outlook on witches and witchcraft. It is a very beautiful practice that helps so many individuals daily. I encourage you to read about the different types of witchcraft and where it came from. You may even find that witchcraft is all around you. You wouldn't have Halloween, Christmas Trees, Yule Logs, or harvest festivals without witches. I am extremely fortunate to have opened my mind and see how much this world can really offer me. I cherish my practice. It has helped me grow as a person, friend, and girlfriend. I now see the world as a beautiful happy place with opportunities around every corner.

Lastly, I want to thank you all for reading this article. It means so much to me and my fellow witches. If you liked this article it would be fantastic if you could share it with your friends.
