Active living in your Golden Years

Beyond the pandemic and labyrinth of neologisms lies a pearl of ancient core wisdom about health. What is behind a philosophy on caring for elders?

And what do we talk about when talking with others, but not giving preference to our own needs or desires in regards to relationships important to us as seniors? At My Active Senior, we like to think about this idea as a philosophy of caring, a formidable tool to fight social ills like depression and solitude at old age. Elder care means being with others, and even just mundane human connections can be emotionally soothing.

The new trend seems like it's all physical; ignoring mental capacity which can eventually lead into neglecting social interactions crucial in healthy living. This being said, there are many ways that older adults have been able to change their lives, such as through creating meaningful memories with loved ones while also stimulating creativity by participating actively in activities they enjoy doing from time to time.

For many of us, the first half of our life is spent pursuing a sense of belonging and purpose through our work or family. The latter part may be more challenging without this social order to guide us, but it's also where we can find ourselves living lives that are even richer than those early years when external forces gave meaning to everything. In the face of pandemics and other disasters that cut off social connections with others, we need these close relationships more than ever before. Caring for each other can be an even stronger panacea against depression and solitude when you do it between your own family members as well as within our community. Building strong interpersonal relationships through empathy is one way to build something like a "social immune system."

The philosophy behind this idea could really help fight ills such as loneliness or depression which are so prevalent among older adults around the world who no longer have work obligations or children living nearby; they often end up feeling isolated from society. Technology has multiple benefits. In this way, we can not only tend to our friendships but also form new relationships with people around the world! Technology has given us the power to stay connected with friends and family in more ways than ever before, but that doesn't mean it's easy. Adults can now keep up with their old buddies at a higher frequency by emailing or IM-ing them where they might have only seen each other once every few months if not years before Facebook existed, yet all of this online connection may lead to new friendships being formed too — both inside social circles as well as outside of them!

Senior citizens are often left without a sense of purpose and direction in life after they retire. What's more, the loneliness that comes with aging can make this feeling worse - to combat it, many seniors find community at retirement communities or senior programs such as those offered by AARP where elders may have access to social activities like arts-and-crafts workshops and other educational opportunities for personal growth.

Last but definitely not least, healthy habits are fundamental to keep an active senior living. Activities for seniors can make a significant impact on our emotional health, physical well-being, and mental faculties. A sleep schedule of seven hours or more is recommended for adults over 65 years old; exercises such as running, cycling, and swimming have been shown to help manage chronic conditions like arthritis while playing with friends or pursuing hobbies increases social connections that lead towards better memory function in seniors who need it the most!
