Spiritual Awakening

The year 2020 has been a time of struggle for many people all over the world. Between Covid19, civil rights issues, and political turmoil anxieties and stress have been collectively high. People of different backgrounds and social standings are all being tested to their limits, and for many there does not seem to be an end in sight. Somehow, however, in the midst of this chaos, many people are experiencing a more positive result of our planetary struggle- awakening.

So, why now?

Within spiritual circles, a commonly discussed experience linked with awakening is what is referred to as "The Dark Night of the Soul." This phrase refers to a period of personal development which is often sparked by undergoing tumultulous times. This process is often very emotionally painful, and the person begins to analyze their life, their identity, their purpose, and their place in the universe. The length of time someone may experience and work through The Dark Night of the Soul varies, as the spiritual journey is unique to each individual- however there is no denying that right now, many people have a lot of reasons they may be wading through the darkness.

Through the darkness, there is light. In mass numbers souls are awakening and exiting the darkness into a trajectory of self growth and spiritual understanding. Social media platforms geared towards empaths, spiritualism, mediumship, and the clairs (clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and claircognizance, for example) are growing exponentially daily as people seek out understanding of their growing abilities.

So how do you know if you are experiencing a spiritual awakening? There are key stages to this process that can clue you in.

Stage 1. The Dark Night of the Soul- As previously discussed, this phase is made up of mental and/or physical suffereing for a period of time. This period is marked by deep depression and spiritual turmoil.

Stage 2. The Reality Shift- Your perception of the universe is challenged, and you begin to look beyond the veil of reality. Complacency is no longer an option as you begin to see through the expectations and downfalls of society to greater truth.

Stage 3. The Novice- In this stage you begin to ask all the deep questions. Where do I stand in the universe? What is the meaning of life? You begin to dabble in different areas of the meta-physical, self help, etc. to find these answers.

Stage 4. The Scholar- Your quest for truth leads you not only to research, but to find people to teach you. Through this process you begin to build spiritual belief systems. You begin to experience mystical happenings, and will begin to break through old habits and belief systems in order to begin to find your true self. This is a liberating and joyful time.

Stage 5. Lost Again- Awakening is a process- sometimes it may feel like one step forward and two steps back. You may fall in and out of connection with spirit and experience periods of upsetment. You may feel unsatisfied with your progress, which will push you to dig deeper.

Stage 6. Digging Deep- The deep pain you've experienced will push you to dig deep on inner work through meditation, shadow work, inner child work, and more. You're searching for answers and willing to put in the hard work.

Stage 7. Integration- This means taking everything you've learned during your spiritual work and applying it to your daily life. This becomes habit eventually, the deeper you move into your spiritual practice. You'll experience long periods of mystical experiences and connection to spirit. You'll strive for enlightenment, and feel largely at peace and full of joy. You will feel connected with yourself and the universe!

Spiritualists at large appear to share the view that the world is undergoing a major shift. These souls are referred to as lightworkers, and they have a very important job to do. This period of darkness is helping to awaken people spiritually to a new path, one that is meant to help heal the brokenness our world has become consumed by. This will be done through many different types of abilities and contributions, all of which will culminate into a major world change- as to what that change will be, we will just have to wait and see.
