I had to visit a podiatry, my primary doctor kept giving Tylenol for the pain.

I wake up every morning with pain on my left foot, it’s actually on the bottom of my foot near the ball area.

The Specialist D.P.M. (Doctors of Podiatric Medicine) place an order for me to get an x-ray and ultrasound on my left foot. She had me come in the fallowing week after I got my X-ray and Ultrasound. She felt my foot and asked me questions about the pain. She showed me my X-ray . She explain from the X- ray where the pain is coming from and the name of my foot issue.

She called it “Plantar Heel Spur Syndrome”. She explain that the heel of my foot is inflamed that’s why I have irritating pain on the heel of my foot. She also told me it could be cause by wearing wrong foot wear, walking for a prolong time or having foot trauma such as sprain. That made a lot of since to me.

When I wear a certain foot wear my foot hurts more and a lot of discomfort and cramping. It’s feels like my heel is in heat and splitting apart. It’s very uncomfortable feeling.

She told me how she plan to treat it and for me to come back in three weeks. Most of the time this pain can be treated without surgery. She wants me to rest my foot as much as possible, wear the foot brace the nurse will make for my foot and put ice on the area I feel the pain. The nurse was very nice and explain the brace will be uncomfortable at first. She made it tight because she told me it will loosen as I walk with it on.

When I got home I put ice on the heel of my foot, boy let me tell you it really felt good to put ice on it. It really hurts to walk on it . When I am cooking in the kitchen, I used a foot stool to keep my foot from putting pressure on my heel.

When I have to go out, I made sure to take ibuprofen. Tylenol don’t work well in removing pain from inflammation from my experience. My primary doctor does not want me to used ibuprofen because of my stomach issue but I need to walk and ibuprofen helps a lot with my foot pain. I don’t take ibuprofen when, I am at home.

I am not a doctor so I am explaining my health issue from a patient’s point of view. I am sharing what works for me and what relieves the pain . I woke up this morning with lesser pain than usual, I feel that’s a good sign.

I will be going back to see the foot doctor next week. Here are some of the things to do while healing your foot:

1. Wear the brace every time you are walking

2. Place ice on the inflamed area

3. Used proper foot wear and support

4. Used the right pain reliever medicine

5. Rest foot as much as possible to keep pressure off the painful area

6. Soak foot in epsom salt in warm water( this part is not necessary but it helps)

Here are my personal picture as well:

I hope this is helpful for those of you who are going through foot pain . It is very important to fallow doctor’s instructions and you will heal faster before you know it.
