The Center card this week is the 8 of Swords.

The Swords being representative of the mind, cognitive thought, speech patterns and memory show our ability to bring order to what we perceive with our senses. How we think and interact with our world with “left brain” intention. There are times when the energy of appliances in a home, or office can negate a radio signal. It’s the same with our ability to focus sometimes. Say you’re cooking a meal that requires timing or writing a report or fixing a lawn mower and you’re interrupted (or writing a weekly reading and your retriever drops a tennis ball in your lap). Sometimes it’s near impossible to get back to the flow. This is what the influence of the eight of Swords sets up. There are also times when we’re so in sync that even interruptions become part of the flow and this is where we can find mastery with eight swords of thought criss-crossing in all different directions. Head and feet; thought and action. When we find the right alignment we can be unstoppable.

The West card is the Princess of Wands.

Both the supporting cards this week are younger court cards. This means there is a high desire to jump right in with new ideas and action and just see what happens. This can also mean crashing into unforeseen consequences. The princess with her innocent passion for action sets us up with a clear desire to get motivated and moving. Our curiosity is sparked and an impulse to know more, taste more, explore more is undeniable. We feel fired up about that recipe, that report and that soon-to-be fine running mower and the inclination to stay with that flow is strong. With this high energy we can get a lot of things rolling and with our impulses at a high point the tendency to get more balls up in the air than we can easily handle is something to be mindful of. Looking at the image on the eight of Swords we can see all the different directions and frequencies of thought patterns involved getting pretty tangled up. Check lists and scheduling can be invaluable in keeping us working in the most direct and effective directions. I would add play to the lists and planning too. Play with what you're doing, make it light, fun, interesting....

The East card is the Prince of cups.

This one will have our emotional and empathic natures wide open but not so that injury is imminent. As with all the princes, this one is bold. He’s not afraid to stand tall with his emotions and empathic ability out for all to see. The courage of the princes allows them (sometimes foolishly) to blow by the walls of convention, tradition and propriety without a care about being “wrong” or “bad”. Their actions in this case are honest and that is what drives the courage to prevail. Any apprehensions about convention have been wiped away by the truth of real, and sometimes raw, emotions. This prince is willing to go beyond “acceptable standards” to allow the real person inside to be seen and heard.

In Conclusion;

Static may be the key word for the week. Like competing radio stations diving and weaving in and out of each other, our cognitive thoughts and decisive actions are whirling around in a dance of their own making. There can be confusion and the feeling of being pulled in too many directions at once but there can also be a wonderful, twirling interaction played out with our thoughts, emotions and actions. When things begin to feel like they’re spinning you around in confusion look for the patterns. Look to the truth of what you have at the center of this whirling dance and let the motion of emotion falling into the rhythm of cooperation be what is seen by those around you. Remember we’re all feeling this swirling wash of action and passion so there will likely be dissonance with the others around us who’re aligning their own dance. You find your rhythm and let them find theirs.

Have a graceful week.

Light, Tory
