Kidney stones are a common and painful condition that affect millions of people around the world. These hard deposits, made of mineral and acid salts,

can cause severe pain in the lower back, side, or groin. If not treated properly, they can lead to complications such as urinary tract infections and even kidney damage. Fortunately, there are several natural remedies that can help prevent and treat kidney stones.

Kidney Stone Causes

Kidney stones are caused by an accumulation of substances in the urine, such as calcium, oxalate, uric acid, and phosphorus, which form into solid particles.

Some of the common causes of kidney stones include dehydration, junk diet , unbalanced lifestyle & liquor consumption.

The Stages of passing a kidney stone ideally involves the following stages:

Onset of Pain: The person may experience sudden and intense pain in their back, side, lower abdomen, or groin as the stone moves from the kidney to the bladder.

Urination: The stone may cause discomfort or pain during urination, as well as the passage of blood in the urine.

Stone movement: The stone continues to move from the bladder through the ureter towards the urethra.

Passage of stone: The stone may be passed out of the body through urination. This can cause additional discomfort or pain.

Pain Relief: Once the stone has been passed, the pain should subside and the person should feel relieved.

The length of time and level of discomfort during each stage may vary depending on the size, shape, and location of the stone.

In this blog post, we will discuss some of the most effective kidney stone remedies.

Plantain Stem Juice:

Banana stem juice also wonderfully reduces and cures kidney stones. It cures calcium oxalate and uric acid kidney stones by dissolving them.

The banana stem also acts as an effective diuretic. It has antioxidant properties and helps in the detoxification of the kidneys.

The healthy side effect is it also reduces excess body weight.

Tribulus terrestris

Tribulus is used for kidney problems, including kidney stones, painful urination, a kidney disorder called Bright's disease, and as a “water pill” (diuretic) to increase urination. A positive side effect is it also treats skin disorders,

including eczema (atopic dermatitis), psoriasis, and scabies.

Cold Shower bath

If you are facing problems urinating or experiencing pain at night while urinating , take a slow cold shower bath before going to sleep every day.

It will immediately reduce the pain while urinating especially due to kidney stones.

Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking enough water is one of the most important things you can do to prevent and treat kidney stones. Water helps flush out the minerals and acids that form stones in the kidneys. It is recommended to drink at least 2-3 liters of water per day to help prevent the formation of stones.

Increase Your Intake of Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits such as lemon, lime, and orange are high in citric acid, which can help prevent kidney stones. The acid helps break down and dissolve the mineral deposits that form stones in the kidneys. Try drinking a glass of lemon water each morning or add fresh lemon or lime juice to your water throughout the day.

Eat Foods Rich in Magnesium

Magnesium is a mineral that helps prevent the formation of stones by binding with calcium and preventing it from forming deposits in the kidneys. Foods rich in magnesium include spinach, almonds, avocados, and bananas. Incorporating these foods into your diet can help prevent kidney stones from forming.

Avoid Foods High in Oxalates

Oxalates are naturally occurring substances that can contribute to the formation of stones in the kidneys. Foods high in oxalates include spinach, beets, nuts, chocolate, and tea. While it is not necessary to avoid these foods completely, limiting your intake of high-oxalate foods can help prevent kidney stones.

Take Herbal Supplements

Herbs such as chanca piedra and uva ursi have been used for centuries to treat kidney stones. Chanca piedra is a tropical plant that has been shown to help dissolve stones and prevent their formation. Uva ursi is an herb that can help reduce inflammation and improve urinary tract health. Always consult with a healthcare provider before taking any herbal supplements.

Use Heat Therapy

Heat therapy can be an effective way to relieve the pain associated with kidney stones. Applying a heating pad to the lower back or side can help soothe the area and reduce pain. Taking a warm bath or using a hot water bottle can also be effective.

Overall, kidney stones can be a painful and uncomfortable condition, but there are several natural remedies that can help prevent and treat them. Drinking plenty of water, increasing your intake of citrus fruits, using apple cider vinegar, eating foods rich in magnesium, avoiding high-oxalate foods, taking herbal supplements, and using heat therapy are all effective kidney stone remedies. Remember to consult with a healthcare provider before trying any new treatment, especially if you have a history of kidney problems.
