Stomach gas is a natural process, but if the gas builds up excessively, it can be painful. Gas can lead to severe abdominal or chest pain, which can be so severe that it is thought to be a heart attack, appendix, or bladder problem. Before getting rid of gas problems, it is important to know about the reasons that lead to gas. If gas is passed thirteen to twenty-one times a day, it is considered normal. However, if you experience excessive gas before or after eating, you should consult a good doctor for treatment.

Common gas problems can be relieved by using the following tips.

Use of fennel

Since ancient times, fennel has been used to enhance the flavor of food and to treat stomach ailments. Apart from this, fennel can also be chewed raw to get medicinal benefits. In various countries of the world, it is chewed after meals, especially dinner, because chewing it does not cause problems like flatulence and gas. Fennel fiber is found in sufficient quantity which improves the efficiency of the intestines and stomach, which does not face difficulties in getting rid of the problems related to the digestive system. Along with this, fennel also has antiseptic properties that play an important role in eliminating gas-producing bacteria in the stomach.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is considered a traditional gas remedy. You can use one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water to relieve gas symptoms. According to medical experts, due to the various medical properties found in apple cider vinegar, the gas formation in the stomach starts to decrease; however, more medical research is needed in this regard to know how apple cider vinegar works in reducing gas intensity.

Eat slowly

According to medical experts, eating food slowly and chewing it prevents the stomach from overloading because eating quickly and standing up cause gas to form due to the entry of more air into the body. Therefore, one should avoid eating food while standing up. Sleeping immediately after eating should be avoided as this habit weakens the stomach and causes bloating.

Baking Soda

The use of baking soda can also get rid of gas. According to experts, if half a spoonful of baking soda is mixed with a glass of water and drunk, the severity of gas can be reduced. However, avoid using more than half a teaspoon of baking soda as too much can cause harm.

Ginger

Along with being used for salinity, ginger is also used to improve the digestive system. Its use relieves headaches, stomachaches, and sore throats. According to experts, if a piece of ginger is boiled in a cup of water and drunk, then one can get relief from digestive problems. Lemon and honey can also be added to your ginger coffee to make the taste pleasant. Ginger can also be chewed raw to reduce the gas intensity, while it can also be used as a salad.

Uses of celery

Celery is also used to treat gas. Due to the Thai mole found in celery, the digestive system is improved and the food is digested easily and gas is not produced in excess. To get rid of gas, take a spoonful of celery seeds and consume it with a cup of water. However, consume celery seeds only once a day, as consuming these seeds more often can also cause gastrointestinal problems.

Clove oil

Clove oil is also used for indigestion, gas, and bloating. Apart from this, cloves also have anti-ulcer properties. Consuming clove oil after meals increases the enzymes involved in the digestive system, which reduces gas in the intestines.

Avoid gas-causing foods

Various foods can cause gas, so it is important to avoid consuming such foods immediately. Food can cause gas in some people, while other people do not experience gas due to the consumption of that food. However, artificial sugar, fried foods, garlic, onions, lentils, and spicy foods can cause gas, so in case of gas symptoms, such foods should be avoided in any case.

Avoiding smoking

Smoking not only affects the lungs but also the overall health due to its damage. Some people use e-cigarettes to avoid the harm of smoking, but it is a misconception that e-cigarettes do not cause harm. Smoking causes various gastrointestinal problems, among which gas is at the top. Therefore, it is very important to avoid smoking to get rid of gas. To get effective results against gas you have to quit smoking completely because cutting down on smoking will not yield beneficial results.

Buttermilk

Buttermilk is considered to be a traditional drink in South Asian countries which is not only excellent in taste but its consumption also improves health. Especially if buttermilk is consumed on an empty stomach, various stomach problems can be easily relieved. To get rid of problems like gas, add a pinch of black salt and celery to a glass of buttermilk and mix well. Consuming this drink once or twice a day will start reducing the severity of gas.

Using supplements made from mint

Supplements made with peppermint oil have long been used to relieve gastrointestinal problems such as bloating, constipation, and gas. According to clinical research, these supplements can also be useful against digestive problems. If you experience gas, use capsules made of peppermint oil that do not dissolve in the stomach in a short time, as these capsules can cause heartburn if they dissolve quickly. Also, mint supplements should be avoided by people suffering from anemia as these supplements prevent the absorption of iron in the body.
