September 5th has always been my favorite day of this month. Given that the “ber” months would indicate that once it commences, Christmas season also begins. In the Philippines, when the first day of SeptemBER comes, most families begin to think of preparations for Jesus Christ’s natal day. It's surprisingly a long celebration of Christmas from September to December.

What is even amazing is that on the 5th day of the 9th month of the year, it’s the International Day of Charity. People who have served selflessly towards the community of different nonprofit charities know about this. For them, helping other people during their darkest moments in life is something meaningful. Having said that, they will also reap the good things that came about because of reaching out to a community of least fortunate individuals.

Let’s Define Charity

When we talk about charity, we could be referring to the act of assisting others. And when I say “others”, typically those who are less fortunate than ourselves. In this world, life is never fair and some have way more problems and different ordeals than some people. However, some individuals or a specific organization whose intention is to alleviate whatever ordeals other people go through, are there to help. The charity should always have a positive effect and benefit.

The importance of charity in a society is tremendously vast. It will not only help those who are needy but even those who volunteered to help out. They can benefit socially, physically, mentally, and spiritually. The moment they give their precious time to a charity allows them to expand their social circle by collaborating with like-minded people. They may also be able to engage in some physical activity, allowing them to grow healthier and happier.

Having said that, there have been studies suggesting that spending money on charity, for example, was associated with enhanced levels of happiness, while money spent on personal bills or new items had no influence on a person's happiness levels, according to research published in March 2008 in the Journal Science.

The importance of giving to others truly manifests a good thing about one's health and perspective in life. The younger generation who sees them do it on a mundane basis particularly their family members like the kids would often emulate this good behavior until they too will continue that legacy.

The Importance of Charity to the Young Generation

Talking to your children about money, and starting the topic early, is a critical step in normalizing money and demonstrating that it is not a taboo or frightening subject. Teaching your children about giving back to the community and donating to charity, in addition to talking to them about money, is equally important in growing well-rounded, sensitive little humans. So let’s delve into the many reasons why it is a good thing to expose the children in charity giving:

  • Develops Empathy
  • Donating money to charity from an early age teaches children that even the smallest child can make a great difference in other people's lives. They will discover that having sympathy for others does not require personal or physical hardship.

  • Gives them a Sense of Pride and Self - Esteem
  • You're building pride and self-esteem in your children by teaching them the value of giving rather than getting. These are important characteristics that will serve them well as they mature over time.

  • Broadens Their Perspective in Life
  • When we say broadening, it means widening a child's experience by assisting youngsters in developing stakes in the community, teaching practical skills, boosting self-esteem, and teaching them everything about leadership abilities, as well as being a fun way to spend time with family.

  • It Makes Them Feel Fulfilled
  • All of this suggests that giving is far more essential than receiving in terms of happiness. Giving helps us feel like we're making a significant difference in someone's life, which motivates us to do more good and discover a new perspective on happiness.

  • They Become Responsible Citizens
  • Children might feel as though they are making a real difference in the world by volunteering and assisting people in need. As a result, they may feel less overwhelmed and more empowered. Your youngster will learn about civic engagement and the value of volunteering in the community.

These are just some of the answers to the question we often ask ourselves, “What is the Importance of Charity?”. Even those who believe in Buddha or even those who espouse the Islamic religion believe in good karma due to these good deeds.

In Islam, this is Sadaqa (charity). The importance of charity in Islam is very fervent. It is a voluntary charity done in order to please God. Sadaqa also refers to a selfless philanthropic deed performed for the benefit of others, whether from generosity, love, compassion, or faith. Simple gestures of kindness, like a smile or a helping hand, are considered sadaqa.

By volunteering and supporting individuals in need, children may feel as though they are making a meaningful difference in the world. They may feel less overwhelmed and more empowered as a result. These are just some of the many reasons why TheQuickMission adores charity events as it is a nonprofit organization that tends to help many wayward individuals come to light and be inspired to live life to the fullest!
