Free Weekly Reading #56

Reading for 12-28-20 thru 1-4-21

Mirror Dragon Tarot

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric, (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card this week is the Knight of Cups.

This knight is the depiction of a man (masculine nature) who knows the deepest depths of emotional connection and creativity a man can have. In this society the quintessential male is strong, fearless, articulate and has a well defined intellect with well defined plans. This knight by his truest instincts is about as far from that as it gets. He is extremely sensitive and creative to the core of his being. Often these guys will be very successful as a result of that sensitivity. They can feel what’s wanted and/or needed in others and can outperform any competitors who are too defined by their own ideas to accept direction. Water takes the form of whatever it’s poured into. It conforms to the medium required and rather than trying to change that medium and will meld itself to encompass it. Men or the masculine energies that interact in this way, though showing the best possible outcome in a given situation(s), do so at the expense of their true nature. This week we look at the aspects of ourselves that have given so much in service to others that we’ve left ourselves unfulfilled and depleted. Many think that the state of true selflessness is divine. And so it would be if we All nurtured each other that way. However we live in a world that fluctuates between give and take so there are times when we have to tend to our own needs. I think it’s important to seek the recuperative power we need from within. Then, if we’re also cared for and supported by those around us we have that much more to give, not to mention that much less to need. The Knight of Cups is the epitome of the sensitive man. He must come to find his strength in nurturing while at the same time recognizing that this strength is as masculine as any other and give up the stereotype that gentle men are somehow less than men.

The West card is the Universe (World in RWS).

How appropriate for the last four days of 2020. The Universe represents all possibilities made manifest, the reality that we are the creators of our experience. Though we do influence and are influenced by all that is around us, the way in which we respond is our choice. In that same vein, the way others respond is their own choice and so on and so on. Our experiential interactions form ripples and they are shifted and redefined moment to moment as they connect with all the other ripples of Universal energy. In combination with the sensitive, watery knight of cups We have the chance to look deeply at All the bits of ourselves that need healing, forgiveness, acceptance and replenishment. 2020 has been such a devastating and dynamic year we have the perfect chance to see very clearly who we are and how we're effected by the changes around us. We can now rest, breathe, reassess and choose what to build from the ashes of apocalyptic change. The world has shifted. We’ve been knocked out of the comfort and complacency of the every-day and as a result we’re forced outside our personal bubbles to see the reality of what IS, what's possible, impossible or likely and just how much more there is when we lift our focus up from what’s right in front of us. We see SO much more.

The East card is the 5 of Swords.

The Swords represent the weapons of the mind and the fives, almost always, an imbalance. The tips of five five swords pierce us with our own thoughts about who we are. In looking back at the passing year there will likely be a tendency to batter ourselves with recriminations for things done badly, things undone, things unsaid or things we should have, could have done differently... If you find yourself wallowing in despair, seeking comfort in material things, food, drink, sex, social media, sleep, shopping, work or any of the myriad things we use to escape our thoughts, stop. Just for a moment ask yourself if you would treat anyone else as destructively as you’re treating yourself. I predict your answer is no. Instead of reaching for the ice cream, shot glass, pipe or credit card try stepping outside or taking a bath. Maybe put on some music and belt out a song that speaks the feelings you’ve been holding, read to a child or play with a pet. Pull your focus away from whatever unfavorable thoughts are going through your head about yourself. How about this; make a list of pros and cons with your name at the top of the page, start with the cons that have been eating at you and list them one under the other. Then, in the next column list your positive qualities. The only rule for this exercise is that the pros must at least equal the cons. If they outnumber cons, great! But there must be at least as many pros as cons. The exercise isn’t finished until the pros are equal to or greater than the cons. If you need help, ask for it. If you need a break, take it but try to finish once you’ve started. The words on the page will help you to see the balance.

In Conclusion;

It’s time to let go of 2020. With The Universe as the defining influence we take a look at the reality of our deepest, most emotional experiences from the past twelve months. Though many doors have closed and many life-paths are changed forever we start new. As the billions of forest acres in the western United States will begin to put up new green shoots of life after the devastating fires they’ve been through, so too can we wipe away the ashes and reveal the seeds of new endeavors, new directions and new life.

Have a week of healing completion.

Light, Tory
