Free Weekly Reading #51 for 2021

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my fingertip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card this week is Lust. (RWS Strength)

This is my personal favorite card in the deck. Yeah, I know, nudge nudge wink wink. But seriously, this is a card of manifestation and the inner strength needed to be able to pull from the depths of your desire, the lust for life and creation that wrings reality from possibility. To quote The Book of Thoth by Aleister Crowley “Lust implies not only strength, but the joy of strength exercised.” Sadly, the word lust has been badly maligned as it’s been used to define uncontrolled passion and sexual deviance. But if we look at that passion as a lust for life and the much deeper animus we tap into in order to bring our deepest desires out of the depths of our dream/imagination into the real world as physical manifestations. It takes a true lust for life to create out of nothing. When our passion surpasses our intellect and the “known” reality we discover the magic of stepping outside of ourselves to bring forth newly created realities.

The West card is the 6 of Wands.

When we look at the path each element/suit travels from the two through the ten (the aces are pure energy without change or manipulation of any kind) the sixes are the true center. They are the cards with as much below the line of physicality as they have above, they find the balance of both and represent the energy of the suit at its most harmonious. Looking at the suit of wands we find the real connection between knowing and intelligently using our creative passions. The fiery spark that drives us towards our goals meets the completion of physical abilities.

The East card is the 9 of Pentacles.

Because we’ve balanced our passion (Lust) with the intellectual knowing that the power of our own creativity and desires we can see that it’s that strength that’s actually bringing those desires out of the realm of possibility and into reality. The Pentacles are the energetic representation of physicality and the nines are that physical reality at its most fluid and powerful. Like a river in spring, swollen with the melting of snow, the nines show us the inherent power of movement, determination and dedication. As part of this week’s trio this card shows us the fruits of our labors.

In conclusion;

This week we get the chance to see the results of the work that we’ve put into our creative efforts. We get a glimpse of what’s possible when we unleash the passion that powers the inner strength needed to create out of nothing. I think it’s fitting at this time of year when so many are celebrating the transition from fall into winter and the gradual lengthening of daylight that guides us out of the darkness of decomposition and loss and back towards the light of birth and growth. Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, or perhaps just the return of light and longer days, contemplate the strength and passion of lust that allows us the ability to create new realities.

May the changing of the season bring the brilliance of the returning sun into your lives.

Have a passionately joyous week.

Light, Tory

TIP for the week; Let us love winter for it is the spring of genius.
