Mirror Dragon Tarot

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card this week is the 10 of Wands.

The tens of the Tarot represent their ruling suits in the fullest and most powerful form. As the Wands represent our will and intent this card shows all that powerful fire burning uncontrolled in the eight crossed wands. Except for the two large wands standing like bars and blocking the way, all that fire can be quite destructive. Within this fiery power we often have a deep desire to “get er-done”! The problem with this, and the reason for the 2 large wands as a block, is that we’ve likely become obsessed with results and lost the greater purpose or highest and best of our intentions. We can get mired in our egos, throwing cooperation and compromise to the wind in favor of being “right” at any cost. When we let our egos drive the train, whatever higher intentions we started out with can get flattened just like that penny you put on the tracks when you were a kid to see how thin it would get when the train ran over it.

The West card this week is The Magician.

There are times in everyone’s lives when things fall magically into place. The lesson to be learned in those times is that each one of us is a totally unique individual capable of manifesting our desires out of nothing, creating something that is so aligned with our Wise Self that no other individual has ever succeeded. This can show up in many ways. It can be as simple as cooking a dish that tastes better than anyone has ever made before or as vast as discovering a species of insect that has never before been recorded. The point is that as we stand in recognition and acceptance of our direct connection to Spirit/Source/God/Universe we embody the magic of creation. With that recognition we are powerful manifesting masters.

The East card is The Hermit.

Like the Princess of Pentacles last week, the Hermit is a repeater from the final week of May. In the image on the card we see the central sun as a lantern or beacon lighting the way forward. The Hermit carries the light of inner wisdom guiding a path through temptations and desires of a baser nature. In this way he is able to illuminate the differences and choices we face between earthly desires and the higher vibrational options of a spiritual kind. In other words, under the influence of the Hermit we are aware of the choices that may satisfy our cravings but, in the long run, could be detrimental to us. As an example; you’re offered a better position at work, even though you may not have the experience or seniority to do the job well, simply because your boss likes you more than others that are being considered. In the short term, you get more pay, more responsibility and perhaps even others to work under you. However, because of your lack of experience, you aren’t able to effectively manage the job or the staff at your disposal. In the long run, you show that you weren't really the best choice for the position and that can have a negative effect on your reliability and respect not to mention your ability to hold the position itself. With the Hermit there is often the implication of sacrifice, though the wisdom of the card shows us that we can choose a less desirable short term option to insure long term success. Put more simply, you might really want that extra “one for the road” but the longer term positive effect would be a safe ride home, no jail time and no hangover.

In conclusion;

Entering into the week we get the chance to see just how magical we can actually be. Our ability to manifest, seemingly from nothing, is high now and has us feeling powerful, adept and pretty darn impressive. The reception, however, can be less than we’d hoped. As a result we could find ourselves feeling the need to defend our actions to the Nth degree even if our “opposition” has some very valid points. This is where the destructive power of the 10 of Wands gets us in trouble. Fortunately the influence of the Hermit puts us in the mood to do some inner pondering, to reconnect with Spirit. With a strong connection to the Universal One, this higher wisdom allows us to see that whittling down our egos (so we can fit through doors and things) is a much better option than pushing our point or opinion into a situation where it doesn’t fit. The Hermit asks us to embrace the One and from that perspective the view is a whole lot broader.

Have an enlightening week.

Light, Tory

TIP for the week; INDEED, WHAT IS THERE THAT DOES NOT APPEAR MARVELOUS WHEN IT COMES TO OUR KNOWLEDGE FOR THE FIRST TIME? HOW MANY THINGS, TOO, ARE LOOKED UPON AS QUITE IMPOSSIBLE UNTIL THEY HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN EFFECTED?
