Mirror Dragon Tarot

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

This week all three cards are from the Minor Arcana plus we have a repeater from last week; the Princess of Pentacles. The fact that we’re dealing with the Minor Arcana now tells me that we’re faced with the repercussions triggered by the lesson offered up by The Hermit (our Major Arcana card from last week) for us to integrate.

The Center card for the week is the Princess of Pentacles.

Seeing the princess for the second week in a row likely means that our focus is drawn back to our sense of purity or innocence regarding the physical resources we need to further our plans or intent. Perhaps we discovered that we need more time, energy or money than we thought at first. Maybe we just need a hand with something and we’re faced with and we need to swallow a bit of pride and ask for help. Whatever the scenario, we find that part of our lesson is uncovering ways in which we can find more resources. Is there someone in our lives who’s dealt with what we’re facing before and might have some good advice on financing? Maybe there’s a friend or neighbor with a truck who’s available and willing to help with heavy lifting? And maybe there’s someone with a soft shoulder to cry on and the understanding that needing to learn how to reach out does not equate to failure, only growth.

The West card is the 5 of Swords.

The fives of the Tarot often signify a feeling of being stuck or tangled. Although we may understand that movement is necessary to shift that inertia, fears or self doubt can make it seem like maybe it would be okay to just stay with the status quo for now. While sticking with it is certainly an option, ask yourself if you truly want things to remain as they are. Or has inner guidance and inspiration shown other, more desirable paths. As this is the suit of Swords the blockage will probably show up in the form of confusion, too much information or conflicting views. This is where we benefit from remembering the purity of our original ideas, what we could see before the tangle of resource challenges and varying or conflicting suggestions brough the process to a halt. If there is a chance, take some kind of break to get back to your starting point and look at each step and in what order things need to happen. A “big picture” view is awesome as long as it doesn’t overwhelm. Make a list and break it down to smaller, simpler bits.

The East card is the Prince of Cups.

Here we find the courage to open our emotional selves and take a good honest look at how we feel about the challenges we face. I find there is an inherent daring in the princes of the Tarot. They’re willing to buck the system and push the boundaries of perceived reality and often find room to grow and change. What this tells me is that whatever projects, ideas or endeavors we’re working on, this week we find the courage to ask for help, untangle that “help” from the basic foundations of what we’re trying to accomplish and allow ourselves to feel the emotions that come up as result of the interactions we initiate. One of the things I really like about the younger court cards, the princes and princesses, is their childlike openness to new concepts and processes. They’re malleable and still innocent enough to not be jaded.

In Conclusion;

This week we face the challenges of plans and ideas we took a chance on. We discover the depth of resources needed as well as where there may be help to reach for. In seeking out that assistance we may have encountered conflicting thoughts and suggestions about how we might improve on what we want to do or how we might go about it. This can push us to a point where it seems like things are stuck or confused and frustrating. Fortunately we also find the courage to accept and engage with our emotions around that blockage. It may be that we get a chance to use our constructive anger to push through or we may be able to allow loving kindness to flow from those around us. There are times when it takes great courage to accept the caring of others and this week we have the opportunity to embrace that caring. Anger is sometimes an easy-out, a way of protecting ourselves but this week, if we allow any anger that comes up to be felt honestly we may find that using those emotions is exactly what’s needed to move our plans forward.

Have a determined and blame free week.

Light, Tory
