The ultimate weightloss diet

Cabbage is a great addition to any diet, and this soup is a great way to get in some vegetables. Cabbage is a low-calorie, high-volume vegetable. It's a nutrient-dense food that’s an excellent source of vitamin C and dietary fiber. Cabbage is also an ideal choice for anyone following the paleo diet or wanting to cut excess calories.

1. What you'll require

Cabbage: 1/2 head-4 cups (or 1 small bag)

3 medium-1 1/2 cups diced potatoes

1 small to 1 cup diced onion

2–1/2 cup bell peppers

Celery: 2 stalks, 2 1/2 cups (or 1 small bunch)

Garlic: 4 large cloves (2 1/2 tablespoons minced)

1 inch to 1 tablespoon minced ginger

Spices: 1 tablespoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric, 1/4 teaspoon paprika.

2. How to Make Low-Carb Cabbage Soup

  • Peel and dice the potatoes. Peel and dice the onions, bell peppers, celery, and garlic.
  • Add the potatoes, bell peppers, celery, and garlic to a large soup pot.
  • Add the cabbage, 1/2 cup of water, and 1/4 teaspoon of each of the spices.
  • Cook on medium-high heat for 8–10 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the soup simmer for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cabbage is thoroughly cooked.
  • Remove it from the heat and use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth. (Or, use a normal blender and carefully purée in a bowl with a towel wrapped around it to protect the dresser.)

Return the soup to the soup pot and place it back on low heat.

Get ready to puree!

  • Use an immersion blender to puree the soup, or return the soup to the soup pot and use a regular blender. Be careful not to burn yourself!

3. The final product

Serve the soup warm with a salad and some grilled chicken for extra protein and healthy fats. Or, if you’re not feeling the soup and want to save some calories, you can always use the avocado trick to cut the calories in half.

4. Is it effective?

You will lose weight, but only temporarily. This is purely a quick-weight-loss scheme.

On the limited menu, you'll most likely consume less than 1,000 calories per day. That's a lot less than the 2,000 calories per day recommended for most adults.

Because you're eating so few calories, you'll lose weight quickly, but most of it will be water weight. And chances are you'll regain it all as soon as you resume a normal diet.

Unless you are under the care of a doctor, health experts do not recommend following very low-calorie diets. Aiming to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week on a healthy, well-balanced diet is a better bet.

Conclusion

Although this diet is quick, cheap, and easy to follow, it is difficult to maintain. It will most likely leave you hungry, weak, and bored. You may even feel ill. And if you stick to the Cabbage Soup Diet for more than a week, you may run out of essential nutrients.

The diet also does not encourage the necessary lifestyle changes that are required to be healthier and lose weight permanently.

Even when done under the supervision of a doctor, the drastic weight loss you may experience with The Cabbage Soup Diet can cause health problems and be dangerous.

Never begin this diet without first consulting with your doctor.
