"City" minds and climate change.

Ban city minds from governing all of us.

Enforcing change to rural ways to satisfy urban idealism.

Random Observation-Opinion with out verifiable data--- people with “city” minds (not necessarily location of birth) do not make good travellers, because a good traveller leaves no footprint and city minds are so insecure they have to make sure everyone knows they exist and so they have to leave markers to show they have been there.

If they see a rural gate open they close it, if it is closed they open it. If it is wild place they organise it. If it is a formal garden they want to “wild” it-- but their idea of wild does not include thistles, nettles or brambles, only acceptable wildness is allowed. Nature must be organised into city mind acceptable concepts of what nature should be like.

Unfortunately most politicians have city minds, even those representing mainly rural areas. Because of this they have this constant restless urge to change everything, to “improve it” with a definition of improve which goes something like this--- make it more acceptable to a selected social group, make it acceptable to our understanding, make it more as we politicians and our bureaucrats want it. It should be noted that the people, out side of the selected social group; who will be most affected are not involved in any way in this definition.

Opposition parties (of all persuasions) and their media supporters love to create a demand that the government of the time, deal with some ill defined problem. They demand action. If there is no actual need for change then this presents the opposition with a open field to keep demanding government action; knowing full well that any and every possible course of action, will be a waste of time, energy and tax money. Which can then be hugely criticised. But if the government of the day, do nothing (the wisest course) the media will claim they are uncaring, they are wilfully disregarding “the people”. The fact that the “people” are not involved is totally irrelevant.

After the start of the industrial revolution the population movement was from rural poverty to urban squalor. This was maintained for a few hundred years. Only with the advert of leisure time- in urban areas since very few (outside of the idle rich) have much leisure time in rural areas; – did middle-class urban people venture into the rural countryside. Rural people had developed their own customs, their own sporting events, their own attitude to life. The visiting middle class had and still have; no understanding of these evolved rural practices. Due to their city minds, they instantly wanted to change rural lives to what is acceptable to their urban customs and practices. They wanted to visit the countryside but it must be a countryside that conformed and still conforms, to urban ideals. Working with muck and dirt, being up at dawn to deal with lambing and milking, coping with death at every level, these are common to rural life but city minded urban arrogance demands that it does not exist, it is banned stopped from soiling their (city minded) views of how the countryside should be.

I once found a man urinating in my front garden when I confronted him he snarled at me that this was the f***ing countryside he could do as he f****ing well liked. When he saw my dogs approaching, he change tune and left quickly. But this is an attitude rural dwellers come across so often. Then it is claimed they do not welcome strangers!! These city minded visitors to the countryside, have no intention of joining in the work, they have no intention of mucking out chicken houses at 5 am on a frosty November morning, yet they demand they get eggs from chickens treated as their city mind demands, no practicality involved since they are never going to actually get muck on their books and blisters on their hands.

Demanding others suffer in order that they be supplied with their needs and furthermore demanding the right to control the methods of that supply, should belong in the history books about Fascist and Socialist despots; but now it is the city minded urban middle class who make such demands. Those who actually do the work, the providing, must change to meet the views of the few with the leisure time to protest. City minds view the fact that global climate has always been in a fact of life on Earth, as a challenge, one that they have to beat down, control, force to their view and needs. Rural thinking sees global climate as part of Gaia, part of the planet. As everything else on the natural planet it is in a constant state of change. Something we have to live with adjust to, accommodate and cope with. City thinking people just can not cope with the idea that there are some things they can not control, they can not conceive that there can ever be something that they can not enforce their opinion on and control.
