For some couples, conceiving can be stressful due to many factors: age, health issues, stress at work, and financial difficulties, to name some. But, with some lifestyle changes, getting pregnant should be much easier, and less stressful. Changes in diet can contribute a lot to hormonal balance which, in return, can increase the chance of conceiving. So, if you’re looking to get pregnant, here are some superfoods that can boost your fertility.

1. Eat a big breakfast.

Almost everyone knows that breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day, so if you tend to skip breakfast, it’s about time to start eating it every morning. Increasing the breakfast portion can help boost fertility, especially for women who suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome, since regular breakfast can decrease insulin and testosterone. High levels of both of them can lead to infertility, so if you’re already struggling to get pregnant, increase the breakfast, but also make sure to reduce the dinner portions, so you won’t gain weight.

2. Leafy green vegetables

You probably hated them while growing up, but did you also know that spinach, broccoli, and other leafy greens are very rich in folate, which is a B vitamin that can improve ovulation. Also, be sure to eat them together with your man, since they can also improve the quality of sperm, which in return can lead to lower chances of miscarriages, and fewer health problems for the baby. There are too many leafy greens, and all of them are rich in various vitamins, folic acid, iron, zinc, and many others which are crucial to reproductive health, and are also a proven fertility enhancer.

3. More salmon

Even if you don’t prefer fish meat, chances are you’ll love salmon. This cold water fish contains a lot of omega-3 fatty acids that can increase the blood flow to reproductive organs, and help regulate the hormones. Additionally, compared to other fish, salmon is much lower in mercury, which is more beneficial to one’s overall health. To further improve your chances of conceiving, try to avoid eating shark, swordfish, marlin, and bigeye tuna as they’re high in mercury, which can harm a baby’s nervous system, impacting their motor and language skills. Therefore, it’s much safer to eat salmon, trout, sardines, anchovies, and herring as they’re low in mercury, and high in omega-3s, antioxidants, and vitamins.

4. Include supplements and vitamins

Eating a healthy diet is crucial, but if you want to really boost your fertility, make sure to add some supplements and vitamins to your daily routine. For example, folic acid is the staple vitamin, not only while trying to conceive, but also during the first three months of pregnancy. Other vitamins and nutrients necessary for increasing fertility and stable pregnancy are calcium, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, zinc, and selenium, to name only a few. Furthermore, if you want to be more relaxed with your partner, consider getting a fertility kit, which can help both of you improve your lifestyle, plan a pregnancy, and reduce the time conceiving. Meditating and avoiding stress can also greatly contribute to better your chances of getting pregnant.

5. High-fat dairy products

Some studies discovered that consuming high-fat dairy products can help decrease ovulation problems. Eating high-fat dairy products such as cheese, ice cream, full-fat yogurt, and whole milk is better at increasing fertility, while it’s also been found that eating low-fat dairy products can lead to reduced fertility and difficulties in conceiving.

Conclusion

The best way to boost fertility is to eat a balanced diet and avoid trans fats, goods high in sugar, and of course, excessive alcohol consumption. Be sure to eat a wide variety of vitamins and antioxidants, and remember to try avoiding stressful situations so you’ll be happier and relaxed, since being free from negative emotions can also increase your chance of getting pregnant.
