Genetic Diseases:

Genetic diseases are those passed on through generations through genes, or hereditary biological material.

One might wonder how it is that at some point in the genealogical tree there was a tweak in the genetic material and some changes got introduced and now you are stuck with an unhelpful condition.

Even as medical fraternity is working day in and day out to understand genealogy and genetic conditions, there is a possibility  to understand and also correct such conditions through NLP.

Genetic Diseases through NLP:

This work is majorly attributed to Tad James, and his work on Timelines. The theory of timelines assumes that there is a physical and imagined structure to time, or rather the perception of time in our mind. This is perceived as linear (a straight line), or even curvilinear (curved line). As long as there is a two dimensional space on which you can imagine your past, present and future, the process works effectively.

Time in itself is supposed to be a construct of human understanding. While we understand that there is a past in the form of memories and a future in the form of fantasy or aspirations, and of course there is a present, in the form of our current perceptions, we work on a cause-effect relationship which is evidence of our understanding of time.

“I fell down and so my hand hurts”

“ We had a fight and so, I am feeling sad”

This cause-effect relationship helps us to make better sense of the world around us.

However, one might wonder, are these causes really aligned to these effects?

Surely, there are some causes which do not create the effect that one expects from that cause.

And what if the unrelated expectation of an effect produced the effect instead of the cause? Can that be a possibility?

“Careful what you ask for, it just might come true” This is a strong sentence from a comic book that has stuck with me since I read it first.

Is it possible that we are operating out of these limiting beliefs that something outside will create an undesired effect inside our body. And is it possible that we are operating out of another limiting belief that we inherit our ancestors' physical conditions?

And if you believe that these are possibilities, then you are ready to create the shift.

NLP Technique:

One of the techniques that can bring about this change is Timeline Therapy

Here we are talking about reprinting the past with new information or resources supplied to the past incident, after the information is gathered from more resourceful situations like the present, or even future.

Sometimes we also create double dissociation and bring the resource in from a completely different source. The idea is that the incident in question would have played out differently, had you had the resources and information to play it out differently.

We use the Third Position to bring about this change and then re-live the new behavior.

The unconscious is an innocent entity, who readily accepts this change and makes necessary adjustments in your current situation, including physiology.

Conclusion:

Point to note here is that NLP does not provide blanket solutions. There is no one pill for all aches. As an NLP Practitioner, or a Life Coach, it is the responsibility of the coach or therapist to judge what works for the individual client.
