7 Mistakes Preventing You From Losing Weight

Healthy Habits for a Healthier and Happier Life

People find they want to lose weight for different reasons. Cardiologists, more often than doctors of other specialties, have to find out with patients the reasons for their stubborn excess weight, since without weight correction, it is impossible to get rid of heart ailments.

Contrary to popular belief, being overweight is not a verdict of genetics and necessarily unchangeable.

Here are some of the mistakes we make, which usually interfere with losing weight.

If you wish to read more about my work, please see my website; we specialize in organic shampoos and skincare, which are based on the recipes only known the Ancient Greeks and Egyptians.

1. Strict diets

Reducing the daily caloric intake below the metabolic level actually leads to the use of fat from subcutaneous tissue as "fuel". However, long-term limited nutrition is stress for the body, during which the economy mode is activated in the body - energy costs are reduced, metabolism slows down, and the process of losing weight stops.

2. Refusing breakfast

There are suggestions that one should miss or skip breakfasts to lose weight. Whatever the case, there is more harm to skipping breakfasts than there is any good to it.

After all, a nutritious, balanced breakfast provides a surge in metabolic processes - in the morning hours there is a period of maximum metabolic activity. When else is the perfect time to get a good fitting meal?

3. Don't eat after 6PM

The body perceives a 12-14 hour break in food as a hunger strike. As a result, blood glucose levels drop dramatically, leading to uncontrolled appetite.

Asides that, overeating at night is not worth it. Optimal evening foods are low-fat, easily digestible, low-calorie: dairy products and seafood, fruits, boiled vegetables.

4. Sedentary fasting

To lose weight, along with dietary restrictions, physical activity is necessary. This forces the body to use up its reserves. In addition, physical activity develops muscle mass, which is the main consumer of energy in the body. Physical activity also helps with sleep; see my next point. For thousands of years our ancestors were hunters and gathers; hence, our bodies natural rhythm involved a plethora of exercise.

5. Lack of sleep

Not getting enough sleep upsets the normal processes and responses of a healthy body. Lack of sleep is usually compensated for by increased nutrition. Some of my personal favorite tips for a good night’s rest are: exercise, either walking or jogging, about two miles per day; mental exhaustion, keeping yourself mentally occupied and constantly learning, helps to exhaust your mind at the end of the day; a hot shower at the end of the day, right before sleep, helps to relax my body before bedtime.

6. Taking diuretics and laxatives

Taking these drugs will, of course, move the balance arrow in the right direction. However, a decrease in body weight will occur not due to a decrease in the volume of adipose tissue, but due to the removal of fluid from the body. Once you replenish it, the weight will return. Please make sure to always consult your physician before taking any drugs even over the counter drugs.

7. Smoking

Replacing the next meal with a cigarette really dulls the appetite for a while. But pretty soon it comes back with a vengeance, leading to overeating. And smoking turns into an addiction that spoils the complexion and skin condition, and also badly affects the teeth. Ultimately, there is more than harm to it than any good.

Rather than smoking, or skipping breakfast or not eating at all, you are better off skipping all these actions together and taking a lot of water and fruits. Eat right. Drink water.

And consume vegetables and plenty of fibers, along with other healthier options. It is your life: live it.
