Workout at Home

Having spent so long forcefully indoors, we TOTALLY get it if the thought of exercising indoors brings terror, or the idea of heading to gym classes fills you with anxiety. It’s OKAY to enter this next phase of lockdown easing with caution. Are you wanting to ditch the gym permanently, or looking to mix up your routine? Either way, we’ve got you. There are many ways to live an active and healthy lifestyle without stepping foot in a gym… and Gluteywear looks good wherever you wear, so we’re all for it!

Here are our Top Five ways to workout without hitting the gym:

Hire a Personal Trainer

While there are many personal trainers employed by gyms to work only in their buildings, there are far more who are self employed and want you to achieve your desired results in a way that works for you. There are also plenty of virtual personal trainers, with programmes that work around your specific needs and abilities. Think - The Body Coach, and YouTube HIIT workout sensations Fitness Blender.

The benefits - Personal Trainers are goal orientated and their success is your success. This can be costly, but if you’re using a personal trainer instead of a gym membership you could be quids in.

Cycling

Not just a (great) reason to show off your Gluteywear cycling shorts (and your glutes too) but a fantastic all-round exercise, and a cheap way to get around. Depending on where you do it cycling can be a low-impact and fun way to exercise for people of all ages. If you don’t currently own a bicycle, you could shop second hand until you know for sure this is a form of exercise you are into. There are also bicycle rental schemes, often from your local bike shop or if you’re a city dweller you could utilise the Cyclescheme rather than hopping on the bus/underground.

The benefits - cycling is easy to fit into your current routine, but it is also great fun and a way to explore your local area. It increases strength, stamina, and can improve posture too!

Hiking

You know walking is great for you, and an easy way to get your daily exercise in - but have you ever considered hiking? The UK is FULL of fantastic hiking routes, there may be hidden gems locally or hiking could be something you want to consider for your next staycation. Hiking is not only great for your mental and physical health, but it also provides a fantastic sense of achievement when you reach the top of your ascent and bask in the glorious views. There is also a thriving community of hikers who will be keen to welcome you into their fold.

The benefits - spending SO long in nature during your hikes is a great way to improve your mental wellbeing, create deeper connections with yourself and/or those you choose to hike with. Hiking also has the added benefit of being a fantastically Insta-worthy form of exercise.

Rock Climbing/Bouldering

We couldn’t mention hiking without mentioning rock climbing. The two don’t exclusively go hand in hand, but they can. While this form of exercise can be done indoors at your local climbing or bouldering centre it can also be done on natural rock formations and cliffsides. We don’t recommend you dive right into outdoor climbing without some prior experience, or a more experienced companion alongside you though. Obviously climbing will increase your strength and your natural grip, but it also can be a mental challenge as you assess your rock formation and plan and anticipate each movement. We recommend wearing long Gluteywear Leggings to protect your legs and provide ease of movement.

The benefits - a great sense of community, arm-aching strength training, a huge sense of achievement and brilliantly fun.

Home Workout Videos

We couldn’t share a list of non-gym workouts without including workout videos. They’ve been popular since the 80s, and especially so over the last year when zoom gym classes and Joe Wick’s P.E were the new normal. YouTube provides unlimited choice when it comes to workout videos - there are dance workouts, HIIT, 30-day-challenges, yoga and so so so much more. For us, the best workouts are the ones you are able to adapt to the equipment you have available to you like your Gluteywear resistance bands, a.k.a Glute Bands.

The benefits - the number one benefit, of course, is that you do them from home. You don’t have to worry about what you look like, or if people are watching you - you simply have to worry about your form and pushing yourself to do the best workout possible. We also love that you can use your own equipment (COVID-duh), and can choose workouts that suit your time limits and physical abilities.

Which of these workouts are you most likely to try? We'd love to know! No matter how you exercise, Gluteywear hopes to be along for the ride. Check out our range of comfortable, stylish and on trend gymwear and accessories.
