Although I was born a woman, I have never felt like a girl.

I think my conscience doesn't identify with the feminine pronoun even 30% of the time, and this has been the case since I was little.

Back then, I had no idea that there were other people like me, nor did I know about non-binary gender. Not that I had to worry too much about that, I was just a little girl ...

... Problems came later when my body began to change and also that of my friends.

Then, I wondered why I didn't look in the mirror the same way I felt inside.

I have had many years to think about my gender identity. First, I came into the Harry Benjamin's theory and thought I was simply born with a transgender brain, but now I think there is something more to all of this. Something more mystical and transcendental.

Even if you do not consciously believe that there is a spiritual and energetic plane that influences the physical plane that we call Earth, I invite you to remain open to all possibilities.

There is much that we still do not understand about our origin and why we are here, so any theory, as far-fetched as it sounds, could end up being the most incredible truth.

3 Spiritual Theories To Understand The Origins Of LGBTQ Identity

1. You have lived too many lives occupying a body of a certain sex

Contrary to what the skeptics say, there is evidence of people having memories of other lives. You can find a lot of interesting material on this in the research of Ian Stevenson, who was also the founder of the current Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia.

Here you'll find a video of Stevenson presenting scientific evidence for reincarnation back in 2002:

So, assuming that reincarnation is real, it is possible that LGBTQ people have had numerous earthly experiences as male or female, and that prevents us from identifying 100% with the male or female gender (depending on the case).

I, for example, have spontaneous visions of other lives, and in all of them I have been a man.

This is not far-fetched. In addition to the stories that Dr. Stevenson collected of children who remembered their past lives, after his death (in 2007) there have been similar cases, as you can see in the following Google search:

Just search for "kids who remember their past lives" and you'll find tons of amazing information. This is real, not speculation.

If you want to know more about life after death, take a look at these articles from the Division of Perceptual Studies:

2. You are an old soul

Following the reincarnation theory, having an old soul means that you have had many human experiences before. This is not your first time occupying a human body, therefore there is divine knowledge within you that makes you more mature than other people your age.

Spiritual maturity can be reflected in a more sensitive, compassionate personality and also in a tendency not to care too much what others think, since you have a free soul.

Some signs that you're an old soul are:

  • You feel constantly connected to a higher Source of Love and Wisdom, even if you are not a religious person. You understand that religion and spirituality are not the same.
  • You enjoy spending time in nature. Furthermore, you feel one with birds and plants, and you feel that the wind, when blowing, wants to tell you something.
  • You have a special ability to communicate with animals. It's easy for you to bond with them.
  • Sex may not be that important to you, or it may have taken on a different connotation. It is not just about sleeping with someone, but about connecting with that person physically and energetically, with all that this implies.
  • Your priorities are very different from other people's. Instead of chasing after luxuries, money, and material goods, you've reached a point in life where you just want to have magical and unforgettable experiences. You want your spirit to expand.

What does all this have to do with LGBTQ identity? Well, if you are an old soul, you understand that you are not a body, you are a soul within a corporeal vehicle. If so, naturally you will not identify as a man or a woman, only as an essence.

3. There is more than one soul in your body

This may sound strange, but it is a valid theory. Of course, I am not talking about a demonic possession, but about the possibility that there is more than one soul inhabiting the same body harmoniously.

According to an interpretation of Rabbi Yitzchak Luria, it is possible for a person to have up to four souls if they are part of the same family group (they share the same root). Interestingly, other ancient cultures, such as the ancient Cherokees, also believed that the body had four souls, and therefore that death had four stages.

In Chinese philosophy, we find the theory that human beings have two souls: Hun & Po –an etheric soul, and a corporeal soul.– You can learn more about Hun & Po in this article:

Final words

So, what do you think about all this? Do you agree with these theories? Do you have your own hypothesis? If so, that's great.

We all come into the world with a seed of wisdom that we sometimes don't value enough, so chances are you already have all the answers you need. You just have to listen carefully.
