The Booming Sleep Tourism Industry

A Genius Concept Or A Sign Of Something Else?

If Sleep is your Business, then Business looks good!

Earlier today, I read that the Sleep Tourism Industry has been booming, and is expected to reach $400 Billion!

In some resorts, they are using AI-Assisted Mattresses to aid in Sleep.

Other resorts utilize Therabody SmartGoggles, mocktails, and herbal teas to help tourists reach peaceful slumber.

Some of these options can reach over $8k per night!

This leads us to the question - Are these Genius Concepts or a Sign of Something Else?

I apologize for the Leading Question - it is a False Dichotomy because the answer is...

Both!

These hotels are seeing a Need in the Marketplace, and indeed they are coming up with a plethora of potential Solutions to that need.

Now, not all of the Solutions are genuinely helpful, that is a different conversation altogether.

Scientifically speaking, some of the offerings are placebos at best, and questionable at worst (having my Sleep, Stress Management, and Recovery Coach certification, I've looked into the Research of these).

However, attending to this Need in the Market is a Genius Business move, in my opinion.

There indeed are many people who are Struggling with Sleep currently, and this Solution gives them some form of Respite.

But this leads me to how this is a Sign of Something Else.

These Solutions, although tending to a need, end up acting like a Band-Aid.

You can put it on a wound, but it doesn't "fix" the wound.

So let's say you go to the highest-end resort, spend $10k (taxes and whatnot) per night, and you stay there for a month.

You're looking at around $300k for your stay... and is your Problem Solved?

Well, looking at the Solutions currently being offered, as well as with the understanding that you'll return to the Environment that created the Problem initially...

No, your Problem isn't Solved.

As soon as you get back home, and to your work, you'll find that everything that "Caused" the Sleep Problems will still be Experienced.

Even if you find "some" Respite, you'll quickly end up right back in the same situation, or likely worse.

You've just paid for an EXTREMELY Expensive Band-Aid.

What we are seeing is that we are Failing to understand and see the Importance of Sleep to our Lives "in" our Everyday Lives.

This is a pretty well-known issue as well.

Elon Musk has recounted in a multitude of places how he regularly sleeps at the office.

Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth recently talked about how he was working 120-hour weeks and NEVER slept more than FOUR consecutive hours.

When you understand Human Psychophysiology, you know these practices are extremely unhealthy.

Not only does it cause Health Problems, but it also decimates Cognitive Capabilities, including Innovation, Creativity, and Problem-Solving.

If these practices are considered "norms", it is no surprise to me why Meta, Tesla, and adjacent organizations are having SO many Problems with their Organizations.

It's a Natural Result of Failure to Understand Human Psychophysiology.

This isn't to say these organizations haven't had "any" Successes, but rather it's a testament to their Failure to notice and solve Extreme Problems before they were out of control in the Public Eye.

You just need to look at the News on any day of the week to spot the constant Problems these Major Organizations are having.

When we fail to work "with" our Human Psychophysiology, we are doomed to create Problems that "should" have been easily avoidable.

Sleep itself is one of the most Important Processes in Cognition.

During Sleep, not only does information get Processed within our Subconscious (working like a NASA Supercomputer vs. our Sticky Note Conscious), but it is also where our Brain goes through a major Clean-Up Process.

The more often we fail to get adequate Sleep, the faster our Brains begin to look like a Landfill.

As this Brain Landfill grows, it causes more Dis-Stress in our bodies, lowers our Stress Threshold, and Blocks us from Flow States while also wasting Energy (Mg-ATP).

It's a complete recipe for disaster.

However, we are seeing that "this" is becoming the "norm" in the world of "Business" today.

If they continue, we will only find our Problems get worse.

I appreciate that the Sleep Tourism Industry is catering to a Need in our Society right now, albeit a temporary Respite.

However, WE need to Realize that this is a Sign of a Profoundly Sick Society.

Omgggg, you're absolutely right about that! It's a freaking expensive band-aid!! I never even knew this was a thing until I read this! It would be wiser to spend money to identify and fix the root cause of the inability to sleep.

Nice article. So many people are on edge today, a lot of the cause must be sleep deprivation from being overstimulated by work and social media. $10,000 a night to turn off ?
