    Petra

    Petra

Growing up in a military family, I have had to move around a lot. My dad has been stationed in seven different places in my time on this Earth. Aside from moving, he has been deployed for a huge fraction of my life. Now that I am older, I have been lucky enough to travel with him to some of the countries that are safe enough. Over the summer of 2019, he was sent to Israel/Palestine for two weeks. My sister and I were fortunate enough to travel there with him. We toured Israel/Palestine, but with Jordan that close, we had to go to Petra. Since a young age, antiquity has always fascinated me. I have dreamt of visiting Petra for a very long time. I believe the law of attraction is real and I was able to visit there for a reason. We departed early in the morning and rode in a cramped bus all day. After a long bus ride and lots of border inspections, we finally made it to this world wonder. In the two hours we had to spend there, we walked through the entire valley of the crescent moon and hiked to the top to see a momentary carved into sandstone. Walking through the valley made me feel like Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones The Last Crusade, one of my favorite movies of all time. It was truly one of the coolest places I have ever been. This is my favorite picture, with me standing atop a series of ancient arches. I have lots more pictures of Petra that you can find on my Instagram page @canicula.outdoors Canicula is a clothing company I am trying to start. I trademarked the logo featured on the page when I was 16. I did it all by myself without the help of any lawyers or elders. I have worked very hard to try and fund my company but I am struggling now because I am currently a college student and it is expensive and I am super busy with school. However, I have not lost my dream. I am going to keep working on Canicula Outdoors until it is a reality. Many companies have taken stances on climate change because it is a huge trend now. This really bothers me, because a few years ago many of them did not care about the environment. However, now that it’s a huge trend they are joining the movement for profit and increasing corporate social responsibility. Most of them say something like “oh we’ll donate 10% of profits to help.” That is unfair. If they really cared they’d donate huge portions of profits and they would be making actual efforts to go out and help. For these reasons, I plan to make Canicula Outdoors a non-profit dedicated to making recycled clothing, recycling materials, cleaning up the environment, sustainable energy, and environmental research. Canicula is going to make a huge impact on this world and I will not stop until it does. Winning this would help me a lot because that kind of money can go a long way when you have a plan. And I am a man with a plan. If I win that money I know exactly what I would do with it. It would be put to good use and serve as a jump start for my non profit organization. There is nothing more that I want than to actually make a difference in this world before I die. If you all choose me, I promise you will be playing a big role in the impact Canicula will make on this planet and I will not forget you. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you have a wonderful day.

How to Travel While Still Making Money

How to Travel While Still Making Money

This post is for those people who love to travel but is a little concerned about money. If you're like me, then you probably only work part-time jobs that give no benefits. What this also means is that you don't get paid time off (PTO). So, whenever you want to take a vacation longer than two days, you're pretty much screwed that month. When Nick asked me to come to Japan with him one of the conditions was that I needed to help out with groceries. I was getting a free place to stay and he's paying for well over half of our activities. The least I could do is help with groceries. But, how in the world am I supposed to get a job in Japan?!

    another au pair

After almost two full days of traveling I finally arrived at my destination. La Rochelle, France. Located approximately four hours by train to the South-West of Paris. Although it wasn’t exactly my final destination, it was where I was going to meet the people I’d be living with for the next year. Yet, I wasn’t as nervous as everyone expected me to be – maybe that’s what two days of traveling does to a person.

    Becoming a Digital Nomad

Closing down my business in December 2014 was a very tough decision to make. The situation came about because we had taken on the full time care of my wife's (Wendy) parents and after Wendy's father died, we moved Wendy's mum in with us so that we could properly look after her.

4 Great Organization Tips for Frequent Business Travelers

To travel the country and the world and get paid in the process is an exciting prospect. But there’s no denying that frequent business travel can become quite stressful quite quickly, especially if you don’t create an effective routine. Running from meeting to meeting, hopping on and off connecting flights, and failing to enjoy the destination are just some of the reasons why many business leaders dread the idea of boarding another flight.
