Born in San Francisco, California on September 16, 1953, he is an American computer scientist and entrepreneur who co-founded the online auction company eBay with his brother Jeff in 1995. He is also known as the "Father of Electronic Commerce".
The first onlin shopping process was invented by Michael Aldrich in 1979. He created a system that allowed customers to order items from a catalog and have them delivered to their home. The system was called "EZ Shoppin". This system has been used in the United States and Canada, but not in Europe. In 1980, Aldrich created another online shopping system called the "Electronic Shopping Network" (ESN). This new company had more than 100 stores using the ESN software. In 1983, ESN merged with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and became EDS-ESN Incorporated. EDS-ESN Incorporated changes its name to Electronic Data Systems Corporation (EDSC)

Can You Drive a Ford Fiesta Through a Desert?
I’m flying down the B1 highway from Windhoek to Keetmanshoop with a map and a boot full of camping gear. I’m excited for the first stop of my Namibian road trip: the Quiver Tree Forest. I spot the sign and turn onto the C17, off the tarmac and onto the gravel. I’ll be there soon; it’s only ten miles or so. I am unprepared for what comes next. The car slides and slips across the road. I am not fully in control anymore. I slow to a crawl. The car judders and shudders, the noise deafening, the vibrations rattling the teeth in my skull. It takes me around an hour to drive the ten miles. I arrive at the campsite relieved to be in one piece, even if it feels like all my bones have been shaken slightly out of place. I will later learn that this is what happens when the gravel road becomes “corrugated”, and that the roads authority goes round once a week to “grade” them. Seems I arrived about 6 days after the grader had last been round.

The Ugliest Building
Mark Twain called the building I work in, “The ugliest building in America.” I agree. The Dwight D. Eisenhower Executive Office Building isn’t the largest in Washington, D.C., but its imposing façade makes it feel like it is. I work for the Office of E-Government and Information Technology. I have a satellite office in the bowels of this monstrosity. Working in this building gives us quick access to both the President and Vice-President because they also have offices here. This access may be why I’m in this situation, or maybe it’s the project I’m assigned to, or both.
