Welcome back for my fourth installment, everyone! Many creators are on my master list for this series, and while I’d hoped for this to be a more regular series, the time is getting away from me these days. (Please forgive me for the delay.)

I do hope you’ll enjoy the grouping today. Some familiar faces, and hopefully a couple new ones! I adore them all.

My Self-Imposed Guidelines:

  1. I want to feature only a handful of creators per installment. This is to give them my full attention and attempt a short article for you.
  2. I want the list to highlight one story per Vocalist. The length should be similar to the rest of the list.
  3. The story will be lesser known (few to zero likes). This will most likely require it to be an older piece.

Off we go!

.

.

Rob Angeli

I was torn between two pieces to feature for Rob. “Mesmerizing (Measuring Magic Tricks)” will make you think, reread, and think some more. It’s so well-written. Rob is operating on a different level, and none of you can convince me otherwise. Bask in his cleverness, and find the social commentary. I myself am now befuddled on the matter with his added nuance.

While you’re at it, read his suggested story, which just happens to be the other story I considered featuring here: “Ortolans at Midnight.” A Tudor-era mystery that might leave you hungry too.

Roderick Makim

So hard to pick just one for Roderick. All of his writing is incredible, and I particularly urge you to read “Dark Muse.” But this poem stuck with me; I read it weeks ago and I just adore the comparison he makes between birds on wires and music. Please, give it a read, and check out his profile while you’re at it. He’s a worthwhile creator to keep in your sights.

ARC

I have yet to delve that deeply into Tony’s work, but from what I’ve read during this hunt, I must say he consistently astounds me. This story has not received the love it deserves. Follow a unique boy’s talents through flashbacks and evening naps. The power of family abounds.

I hope you like this one, and once you’re done, you might want to peruse his poetry. Quite breathtaking, I must say, especially “Ode to Breath.”

Randy Wayne Jellison-Knock

Randy is a fantastic storyteller and has so many older poems and stories with very few reads. This is one of them. “Feral” is a gripping story and phenomenally told, in my opinion. If you love dragons, this one will horrify and endear (which seems like an impossible feat, but Randy pulls it off). I’m impatiently waiting for the next installment.

Bonus Story

(I had to!)

Moe Radosevich

Moe has so much poetry on Vocal, and I know I’ve missed dozens of stunners. When I found “Final Bite,” I just had to post it here, even though it breaks Rule 3, and has quite a few likes. It’s just SO good, though. You’ll see what I mean.

I kept thinking about this poem after I’d clicked away and continued my hunt. It goes deeper than you’d expect…so to speak. Absolutely stunning work, and the title holds so much meaning. Please give it a read.

Please, if you haven't, check out the previous three installments of this series to find some incredible authors and writing!

Sitting on my lunch break and hoping someone would just give me a list of what to read so I don’t have to aimlessly scroll. Perfect timing! Also, I love that you’re making these. It’s so I souring how much you highlight and show appreciation for other writers. Love this!

  • I know all these writers! They're awesomeeee! I've read everything that you've included here expect for Rob's and ARC's. I'll be heading to read those now. Thank you so much for this!

  • Thank you for the shoutout, Mackenzie. Yours is a shining light in an otherwise difficult day. Great selection, though I must admit I had to read "Mesmerizing" three times before it finally began to sink in. (I know, I can be pretty dense sometimes. It's not like Rob didn't write it explicitly in there, lol.)
