...but not to me.

A Roommate Apologizes...

Note: More cleaning up has revealed more documents I thought were lost for good. I found the following apology - spelling errors and all - on an old computer. It comes from a former roommate who's name has been removed from the document and my thoughts. And if any of you think it is unfair to post this, please be advised that he was a spoiled brat, pain in the neck, the reason why my laptop got stolen, and one of the people who abandoned me when the hydro bill came in and the power was cut.

Yes, it still makes me laugh.

Enjoy or get a life.

July **rd, 20**

Dear Father,

Here is the letter outlining my lack of academic progress at ****. The chronology of the situation is as follows:

September ’** to April ’** - 16 courses (4 per semester) x 3 credits each for a total of 48 credits.

September ‘** - Registered for 4 courses but differred 3 of these exams in Late November. They were then to be written in the following semester.

May ’** - Removed from my transcript all of the courses that I had been enrolled into by applying for and recieving a University withdrawal for the 20** - 20** school year.

January ’** - after applying for and being granted readmission to **** in August ’**, I enrolled for classes in the winter semester.

May ’** - Removed from my transcript the courses that I had been enrolled in this Winter semester.

As I see it, my problems started when I differed the exams in the Fall Term of ’00. In differring these finals, I was forced to study for and write 7 exams in the Winter semester of ’**. In attempting to study for all of the courses, I soon discovered that I was ill-prepared. I opted to withdraw from these courses at the end of the year rather than risk failing a number of them and thus being forced to leave **** due to an insatisfactory grade point average. Throughout the year however, I had been going to classes and maintaining a satisfactory attendendence rate. In the summer of 20**, I was working a large amount of hours at various jobs. I decided not to register for any classes in September ’** because at this time I did not believe that I had the proper focus to return to school and maintain a ‘B’ grade point average. After Christmas I quit one of the two jobs that I was working at the time and enrolled for classes in the Winter Semester. During the semester I found myself having to work more hours to keep up with my escalating bills and expendature. I still attended classes. Working caused me to once again fall behind in my courses. In May of this year, I again chose not to write exams rather than risk failure. At the beginning of my third year at **** (when I differed the 3 exams), I did not expect the situation to snowball to the extent that it did. Meaning that when I differed, I fully expected to write the exams the following semester. This is not meant to be an excuse for what transpired, but it is the truth. The reason that I decieved you was because I could not bring myself to tell you the extent to which the situation my schooling had diminished. With the passing of time as I tried to rectify the situation myself, the gravity of the circumstances snowballed to greater proportions. When I differed that first set of exams, I did not think that I was essentially dropping out of school for two years.

I am Sorry,

X
