Turkey is a country that is quite rich in terms of culinary culture. The fact that the Ottoman Empire housed many cultures has added a unique taste and variety to Turkish cuisine. Turkish dishes stand out with different styles and flavors in each region. In this article, we will take a closer look at Turkey's popular culinary culture and culinary diversity.

Turkey's Culinary Culture

Due to its rich historical heritage, Turkey's culinary culture is quite diverse. Many Turkish dishes have been influenced by different cultures of the Ottoman Empire. The taste of these dishes is completely different from other dishes in Turkish cuisine. Turkish dishes have spread in the territories where the Ottoman Empire ruled. Therefore, Turkish dishes are popular in the Balkans, the Middle East, the Caucasus, and even Eastern Europe.

Among Turkey's popular dishes are kebab, lahmacun, pide, döner, baklava, börek, pilaf, köfte, lentil soup, stuffed vegetables, mantı, and fava bean soup. Additionally, side dishes like meze and salad are also very popular in Turkey.

Kebab comes in various types such as Adana kebab, Urfa kebab, Iskender kebab, beyti kebab, and shish kebab, and it is an indispensable flavor of Turkish cuisine. Kebab is generally prepared using lamb or beef. The meats are marinated with special spices and sauces, then grilled on a barbecue or in a pan.

2. Lahmacun:

Lahmacun is a popular street food throughout Turkey. It is usually prepared by spreading a minced meat mixture onto thin dough. Lahmacun is flavored with different spices and often served with lemon juice, parsley, and onions. Lahmacun is typically consumed with flatbread or garlic yogurt.

3. Imam Bayildi:

Imam Bayildi is one of the most famous olive oil dishes in Turkish cuisine. It is made using ingredients such as zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, onions, and garlic. 5. Dolma:

Dolma is one of the most popular olive oil dishes in Turkish cuisine. To make dolma, ingredients such as peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, zucchini, and cabbage are stuffed with a rice and herb mixture, and then cooked in olive oil. Dolma is typically served cold, and often consumed with garlic yogurt.

Baklava:

Baklava was the most popular Turkish dessert among Turkish desserts. Baklava consists of thin layers of phyllo dough, and is filled with walnut or pistachio paste. It is baked in the oven with melted butter and syrup poured on top. Baklava can be prepared in different shapes in different regions.

Shish kebab:

Pide:
