The iconic singer of "On the Road Again," Willie Nelson, aged 91, is anticipated to make a full recovery and return to performing next week.

Nelson was scheduled to perform in Georgia on Friday, June 21, but had to cancel due to health issues.

The country music legend was set to take the stage at the opening night of the 2024 Outlaw Music Festival at Ameris Bank Amphitheater in Alpharetta, Georgia, along with headliners Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, and Celisse. In his absence, Nelson's son, Lukas Nelson, and the Family Band performed covers of his classic hits.

A statement on Nelson's official X (formerly Twitter) account announced, "We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days. He is expected to make a full recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week."

The festival, which was announced in February, will run through September, with John Mellencamp taking over for Plant and Krauss in late July.

In May 2023, Nelson remarked, "There's probably other things I will do and can do, but I'm not going to push myself too hard. I know one day it all ends, but I'm not rushing it." He also mentioned that performing in front of an audience is “what keeps me going.”

Additionally, Nelson released his 75th studio album, "The Border," in May. The title track, a cover of a 2019 song co-written and recorded by Rodney Crowell, was released as the album’s lead single.
