Why? What do you mean—‘why’?
Why you did it—you owe me that.
Mom, I love you…
Why’d you say that?
Because— because— I do.
Don’t lie to me! You’re trying to change the subject!
Mom—
No! I want to know why!
It wasn’t you…
Then what? If you loved me, what could make you do this?
I bartered my soul for curiosity. And my body. And my brain. And my life.
…I could’ve helped you…
No—
I could have! If you let me!
Mom! Please…
…Why?
Because my life was little more than a deeply abasing conjugation of Hell!
But— was this the answer?
Mom?
Yes?
I love you.
I miss you.
Mom… I love you…
…I know… And I love you…

I want to grow
I want to grow and I’m going to grow. I’m not going to be this version of myself anymore and you won’t know who I become. You won’t talk to her, or be by her side as she goes through life— you won’t know her. Her heart won’t even remember the small moments that’ve clung to it for so long. I’ll watch her embrace a new life that has nothing to do with you, and there won’t be a space waiting like there has been for far too long.
