Why I Don't See Divorce from JJC as Failure - Funke Akindele
Funke Akindele opens up
Nigerian actress Funke Akindele made history earlier this year when she broke the record for highest grossing Nollywood movie with over 1 Billion Naira made in the box office. It is an extraordinary feat and something that is the dream of so many. Still, even though Funke has had a lot of triumphs in her life, she has also had her share of failures - for example, two ended marriages. Now, in a new interview with Joyce on Wazobia, Funke is speaking about these "failures" and why she doesn't even see them as such. Here's what Funke said.

Speaking about her failures in life, like her ended marriages, Funke Akindele said:
FUNKE AKINDELE: If you don't fail, you can't be successful. You have to keep trying. Like when a child is trying to walk, the child will walk small and just fall off. So it's normal for you to fall but you just have to pick yourself and rise again. For me, I see failure, I see challenges, I see obstacles, as part of life. My mum raised me like that. My mum will say if you do not fail, if you do not fall, you cannot succeed. So you have to keep going. And note, I do not even see the failures. If you ask me now can you tell me one failure, I don't see it as a failure. My personal life - marriage, I just take it as it comes. My mental health is very important. My career is very important, darling. I have to make an impact. I have to empower a lot of people. I have to inspire young people out there. I have to stay strong for my children and my siblings. Why am I living? I have a purpose, so my head is up. Yes I cry, yes I break down, but after I cry, I just look in the mirror and say "keep moving".

Death is a black hole. Think about it. A black hole is the corpse of a star, something once warm and bright, now come to the end of its life cycle. But some will argue that the cycle of life does not end with death. That death is merely another path we must walk once our bodies expire and our souls ascend. In that moment, when the fuel in the star’s chemical tank hits empty and the shiny matte coat explodes into supernova, the mass left behind – the corpse – becomes a black hole. We understand that, around such a vast cadaver, dimensions work a little differently in death to the way we’re used to in life. For example, light cannot escape the pull of a black hole when it hits the point of no return. That’s where it gets its colour. Space itself is contorted by a black hole. That’s where it gets its funny shape. Even time. Time slows right down the closer you get to it. The closer you get to a black hole. The closer you get to death.
