Tiny Universes

I do know this ..I get it.. However many of us, if not most of us carry on as if it isn’t true....,but nothing other people do has anything to do with us. Everyone lives in their own dream, and in their own mind. They are probably in a completely different world from the one you live in. And there really isn’t anything wrong with this... except taking things personally is something that the majority of us seem predisposed to do. And it’s not ever really personal... sure it feels like it, oh boy does it ever feel like it, but it is truly to do with whoever is “throwing the shade.”

SAME BUT DIFFERENT

Of course just to complicate and obscure this truism even more, it appears that they reside on the same plane as you, they may even have some similar traits... leading you to believe that you will be safe with that person... and biggest folly of all follies... that they actually understand you to some degree. That by some magic osmosis they will know how to treat you. Well no that’s not quite right, it’s on YOU to explain yourself, your boundaries your feelings... but the different universe effect means that either you won’t be heard in the way you mean it, or you won’t get a chance to speak at all. And before you know it worlds collide... and usually not in a good way.

THIS IS HOW IT IS....

Of course there are the general rules of society which everyone may be in broad agreement about, but that’s it ..it’s a broad agreement, very broad ..and within that expansiveness, is about a million different degrees of opinion that can see two people who fundamentally agree... disagree... big time!

FIX IT MAYBE

Usually the disagreement can be smoothed over, clarification can mitigate the worst of it, and a simple apology or at least acknowledgement that the other world view could actually be valid. Not what you believe but still, valid. BUT if only our little universe’s view is deemed “right” then the only way is down and out. And it’s horrible. But for those of us who would rather be “right” than happy... and just to be clear that’s pretty much all of us... at least while we are in the heat of the moment... feeling the burn of a “threat”, or other cruel action ( which of course is not seen as such in the other “world”) Trying to fix things afterwards is sometimes just too hard... you will always be seen as the wrongdoer.

I UNDERSTAND MORE THAN YOU THINK

Sometimes you really do have an insight of life in that other universe... you get it, you really do ...and you scramble to meet, as best you can, that other world view. Just for the sake of harmony.. However if the little world you are in has a different dream for something ...as precious yet mundane as what constitutes a good connection in a friendly collegiate sense.... the task can become well exactly that ...a task ...a Sisyphusian one at that, and it’s something that really shouldn’t be that hard.

DRAMATIC!

I live in hope that more of us can at least accept the tiny universes of others and drop all the drama and hatred at least.

ENTANGLEMENT IS HEAVY

It’s one of the goals I have for what remains of this life... to never get attached and over entangled in the little universes of others ... but to be clear that does not mean I don’t care. But that I actually do care. I will do as I have always strived to do .. make my universe more knowable and understood, whatever anyone else thinks of me and my actions ... it’s completely on them. I’m not perfect and have made choices that were poor in the spur of the moment... I always own that stuff and after regrouping...which might take a bit of time... I’ll apologise.. always. Absolutely always...But chances are my Universe is not understood, my honesty is too much, but that’s not something I can do anything about. I can only try ... Hope that peace reigns in everyone’s hearts eventually.... and make the best use I can of the lessons received from another world. Thank you.
