Is Love Real?
During my freshman year of college, I noticed one thing. In college, there are a lot of college students who are sexually active, and I didn't fit in well. I have a strong belief that you wait until after marriage before becoming intimate with your significant other for personal reasons. When I joined the dance team at my college, I heard from several members of my team say, "Love isn't real." Now, this stuck with me for my own reason, and that reason was simply that I didn't agree with that statement.

The Call
A few years ago I was in a very toxic relationship. I let him cheat on me, call me derogatory names, and control me. He even stormed out of my parents' house on Christmas Day in front of my entire family while I laid on the floor sobbing uncontrollably. It was then we decided to "take a break." Mind you, looking back, I don't know why "taking a break" was the decision I made, but you do do a lot of dumb things in your early 20s.

Take a Bite
My lover comes to me at noon. He is my height and heavier than me, a bit of a teddy bear around the middle. He has short, groomed hair like salt and pepper and those dark eyes. Those dark O’Higgin eyes, like the rest of his family, that bore into you when they look at you. He greets me at the door with an Irish wool cap on his head and a full raincoat with the collar turned up. It’s raining and he looks like an old man in a way, but he is only 40. I love this about him. I don’t know why because sometimes he can be so annoying, but this gentleman that treats me with care is something I love.

Love
LOVE The word LOVE is just 4 letters. It is tossed around without meaning by most people. You’ll see it on Instagram “ily” and “OMG LOVE YOU” written by total strangers on other people’s posts. It almost has no meaning in the digital world. I’m no saint when it comes to that, I do it too. It is when you leave the digital world and enter the real world where that word “LOVE” becomes one of the most powerful words in our language. Think about it, people have killed for it. Some have killed themselves because of it. People search their whole lives for it and some are lucky to find it, while others aren’t. Some are afraid of it because it can carry with it another 4 letter word: “HURT.”

Unconditional Love, Vulnerability, and Authenticity (Pt. 1)
I wish you were a little more...I wish you didn't act so...Interesting isn't it, common phrases we hear every single day. We spend most of our lives listening to the ways in which other people wish we were. Authenticity seems a lot like a buzz word these days, but to be honest it might be the only word. I think life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness may be a little misquoted. I think if we spent less time focusing on what we should be doing and more on what makes us feel alive, the happiness and successful relationships would be at our fingertips. Without vulnerability, can we ever be truly in a trusting, honest relationship? Without our partner knowing who we are, can we be happy? Love, unconditional love, what does that even mean and does it even matter?

Loving Yourself, and Them
There's a strong debate over the topic of lack of self love versus a person's ability to love another person. Can a person who hates themselves have intense feelings they interpret as love for another person? Absolutely. Everyone feels an intense draw or connection to other people no matter what their self image is. Even narcissists, who are completely devoid of compassion and empathy, feel love, but their own interpretation.
