The Sweetest Taste
I noticed him the moment he entered the restaurant. His striking features matched that of the description my sister had given me. Sandy blond hair, piercing ice blue eyes, and a smile that would make any woman melt. He was handsome for sure, but it was his outward confidence that really caught my eye. I watched as he swooned the young hostess, her face flushed as she pointed in my direction. He gave her a devilish smile and headed my way. I sat up straight, fixing my satin black dress as I adjusted my seat.

There Is Truth in Wine
The Merlot is tart, a tang on my tongue, as I sit and wait for the cinema's latest showing to begin. The plush recliner of a seat nearly envelops me because I'm so tiny, and even my high-heeled feet barely touch the floor. I'm sure I look like a right sight in this dinner theater as people still shuffle in before the previews start.

Leonetti 1993
Do you ever ask yourself if this is the last time I will do this? For example did you know the last time you were going to go outside to play with your childhood friends? Or the last time you would hang out with a close friend? How about spending time with a beloved family member? I believe we forget to savor the moments we had with the people we cherish the most until it's too late. It sounds melancholy I know but I feel that's necessary, in order to have highs, one must have lows. Experiencing a last first doesn't always have to be depressing, when I look back on this life defining moment I enjoy it to its fullest. January 1st 2021 at twelve oh five a.m was the start of many last firsts I would ever have.

The Great Conjunction
“If you look through the eyepiece you can see how close Saturn and Jupiter are. This will be the first time in 800 years that Saturn and Jupiter have overlapped at night.” Jessica hopped out of the way, excited to share the wonders of the cosmos with John. At least she thought it was John. Or was it James?

Simple Indulgence's
The clicking of my heels echoed off the sun mellowed, brick and stone walls of the otherwise quiet street. I walked alone in a town small enough to sit for an hour in the right place and not see a soul, as all the towns inhabitants are inside their often quite lavish homes. As I walked the setting sun was in the right position to illuminate the highest tree leaves to a golden hue. The tops of buildings which housed flourishing businesses were also aglo. I passed by a park, near the middle of the town’s center, and spotted a miniature lake with a swan floating gently across the reflective water. Its form was a silhouette against the dusk light, but the shape of its craning neck gave it away. Just when my feet were starting to ache in my rarely-worn stilettos I spotted a neon sign in the window of a simple looking Italian restaurant which read ‘Semplice Indulgenza’. With one last look around the dusk soaked scenery I took a deep breath and walked inside.

It's the Shade for Me
Just like that I got onboard with the bandwagon. I took the road often traveled. I gave in. A part of me felt compromised, giving in to what everyone else does. Marching to my own beat has always been my motto. The fads, trends, and hype never phase me. We were in quarantine, however. What was I expected to do for goodness’ sake? I needed the face to face, the gentle touches, the in-person laughs. Ironically, I had grown to not need it. This was not good on any level. I am a creative. Sparks make up my life! The chats and video sessions had become mundane. Everything began to fall in sync as the norm. I hope this is all worth it…

A Dream In a Wine Glass
Yolanda’s life felt to her like window shopping. She could pass by and watch all the things she dreamed of having, but simply not afforded them. She lived in her own imagination and there were times that those thoughts were so vivid that she had to remind herself that they simply were just that – thoughts. Her thoughts ran wild, and the multiple unfinished stories were a testament of that. She wanted to be a famous writer since a child. Her intentions were in place but her discipline was something of the contrary.
