The Man with the Purple Beard
Thursday, Friday Eve. One more full day of work until the weekend. Chris is at his office job, dreading it as always. As the clock on his desk slowly ticks around him, he scrolls through his phone, looking at videos online, when he stops and sees an ad for Bushtelly Shiraz. With Chris’ eyes glued to his phone screen, he notices the male actor in the ad and can’t help but think to himself “Man, that guy is so lucky. He’s attractive, successful, and could probably get any girl he wants. I wish I was starring in commercials instead of being in this place.”

Last Call
Soft lighting that dances to the pulse of airy saxophone acoustics makes for a subdued night at Kennedy’s. The rustic bar in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan is often the site to be, even on rainy Wednesday nights, like tonight. But there is a notable difference in tonight’s vibe. The aroma of lemon zest garnish. The hushed tones. Even the rain droplets covering the windows. Like a puzzle, the pieces fit together and an ambiance of calm was born. Tonight, Kennedy’s is a mood.

A Date to Remember
The weight of marriage had taken its toll on me. It was time to punch out after five years, that was four years ago, and the days were too quiet, too bleak. My schedule was chaotic on the best of days; the only sanity was my simple daily routine, yoga, commuting, and the questionable lean cuisine. Keith had always been talking up a good friend of his.

first date
I have arrived at the restaurant on a blind date. My date had arrived early and he was waiting for me. As I was approaching remembering what he said he was going to be wearing, I spotted him and for a moment I took a deep breath in awe and exhaled. There was a bottle of Merlot at the center of the table with some beautiful carnations. He was there sitting in anticipation. As I was getting closer he recognized me from the description, and he stood up standing tall and well groomed he extended his hand towards me to escort me to my chair as we introduced ourselves. His name is Johnathan. I said, I’m Victoria. I looked at the bottle of Merlot and he kindly asked, Have some Merlot? I replied, yes please that will be nice. I looked slightly away with a little grin thinking, my friend Lisa did a good job setting up this blind date. I thought to myself, he is like a breat of fresh air.

Not Full-Bodied Enough
“I’m—not really a wine person.” The waiter staggered away as though I’d just said I had Covid. Even in the candlelight, I was pretty sure he could see the hot blush prickling over my face, but I kept my gaze on the man sitting across the tablecloth from me. Was this another first date that was going to go wrong? Because if so, the sooner, the better. This man was gorgeous. Not handsome, not built, but so—o—o teddy-bear cute.

How to Save a Life
Violet’s Apothecary was a quaint tearoom by day where patrons frequented elaborate afternoon teas. By night, for three days a week, it transformed into a posh restaurant that was always booked. Teacups were switched to wine or cocktail glasses, three-tiered dessert stands were replaced with dinner plates with artfully placed entrées. Decanters that housed wine took the place of teapots, and the usual sugar pots and cutlery were tucked away.

One of My Kind
Once upon a time I got a match with an attractive lady on Tinder, I know sometimes I think that I look for love in all the wrong app's, but she's a unicorn! She had told me that she liked my bio & that I was the only guy to not send her a dick pic. Thankfully my good manners rolled out the red carpet for her, and we began to send message to each other more and more extensive until one day she decided to let me have her phone number.

The Ideal Dream Date
I think like anyone else that is dating or potentially looking for the perfect romantic partner or the ideal mate we all have certain standards. Standards aren't always a bad thing, they are needs that we need to have met in order to feel appreciated, wanted and ultimately loved. Some experts call this our "love language", some call it "expectations" and also call it even our zodiac's programming. I do believe it is programming and a mindset that is developed from our parents, they taught us from an early age our definition of love and how it should look like. It's built into our belief system and mindset. But I do believe that we also construct our own perception of dating and what "types" we date.

A Blind Date On Zoom
Julie's hands shook as she opened the door, anticipating a delivery guy. There he was right in front of her. A large bouquet of red roses was delivered to her with a card that read "I hope you like it!" along with food and a bottle of red Merlot wine.

The Embers of Love
It’s Sunday, March 19, 1972. March came in “like a lion,” so there is plenty of dirty and compacted snow filling my open backed heels as he gently escorts me down the slippery ramp where his car has sat these last four hours. Normally I wear classic white pleather “go-go” boots, a mini skirt and false eyelashes. The standard uniform for cocktail waitresses at the Cascade Nine Night Club on Hennepin Avenue, in Minneapolis. A little too “disco” for a first date…
