In The Mood For Merlot
New Orleans is a city of seafood and spirits. The French Quarter is a famed destination for fun and food. It's also where a southern sweetheart named GiGi worked as a hostess in a new, upscale hotel restaurant called Angel Food Grill. She loved greeting and serving guests from all over the world as they came from near and far for a taste of New Orleans flavor. The restaurant served many unique dishes like red beans and rice, etouffee, and the world famous dish called gumbo. In celebration of Mardi Gras, Angel Food Grill decided to put a deal on a new discount website called PayLess. GiGi decided that it would be a great way to show the new guy in town, Rance, around The Big Easy. Rance, a jazz singer, just moved to New Orleans from New York and had been so busy adjusting that he had not taken time to sight see.

If The Shoe Fits
The annual work ball was never something Charlie looked forward to. It was unnecessary, in his opinion, to get dressed up just to drink overpriced alcohol and eat tiny arrangements of olive tapenade on stale bread. If he had his way, he wouldn’t attend at all. He had been guilted into joining the festivities this evening under the promise of a blind date.

A Glass of Merlot
I had been thinking and dreaming of going on a cruise. And now it was going to be a reality. My Company has organized orientation program for the participants on a charter boat. A full 2-day orientation on the boat. The program has been organized for fresh recruits and interns. The concept of having an orientation on a boat was pretty exciting. They did not tell us about the program iternary other than it’s going to be a total surprise. This announcement added a zing to the already growing excitement.

The Never-ending First Date
When Ayana woke up this morning she washed her face, got dressed, prayed, then checked her phone notifications as she does every day. To her surprise, she received a friend request from a young man she had gone to school with named Mufasa. Ayana had not heard from nor seen him in over twenty years. Ayana immediately accepted his friend request on Facebook and received a call from him through messenger. As they were catching up Mufasa mentioned that he was still living in Colorado, and he owned his own company making cameras. Mufasa had been called to serve in the military straight after graduation, it broke Ayana's heart to hear stories about what he experienced in the Gulf War. Ayana told him that ironically she was currently living in Texas and was planning to move back to Colorado in six months. When he asked her what type of career she chose for herself, she told him that she was an author of several spiritual books. Ayana also talked about how much she enjoyed taking pictures and wanted to buy a new camera as well as take some photography classes this year. Before they got off the phone he asked her if she was married? When she said that she was not, he shocked her by confessing that he had always wanted to go on an official date with her since the sixth grade. He was afraid to express his feelings because he did not want to destroy their friendship if the feeling were not mutual. Ayana honestly never thought about dating anyone during that time, she was too busy working and going to school. She could not believe that all the time she spent with him during her high school years she never knew how he really felt.

Love at Independence
Lagos, Nigeria Oct. 1, 1960 Isasere is my name, and today is Nigeria's Independence Day. The excitement in the atmosphere is palpable. Today is the day! Earlier, we all parched in front of the TV to watch in humble witness as Nigeria finally becomes a free and sovereign country. To celebrate this milestone with us, Princess Alexandra of Kent served as a representative of Her Majesty, the Queen. That's how a country that has fought wars, slaved, and literally died because the crown is honored. It wasn't unexpected, yet still disappointing. The British "visited" Nigeria over 100 years ago and have refused to leave! Incompetent lots. The relinquishing of Nigeria's Constitution signifies the exchange of sovereignty between Her Royal Highness and Balewa from Great Britain... the moment when that piece of paper was exchanged, the desperate exhalation of relief shared by every Nigerian was a feat I never witnessed. A moment so intimate yet public. I only wish mother could have seen it. I have sat here for hours replaying this day, afraid that things may return to normal by daybreak. Yes, I have consumed an unhealthy amount of Tv, sue me! "Are you ready yet?" My husband called out from the bedroom. He is the most remarkable man I have ever known. We have been married fifteen years and he's still as erratic. You'd think he'd learn.

Blind Date
Tom got ready for his blind date one warm June evening. A blind date might not be his first choice, but he struggled getting real dates. Even in the age of online dating, there were only so many available women on the apps in a small town like Springfield. So he decided to try the matchmaking service that set him up tonight.

The Rombauer Date
The Rombauer Date As I sit in this chilly, 55-degree cellar waiting for the dust to be wiped off me, I ponder the dinner I may be poured with. Will I sit next to a perfectly cooked filet mignon? A rack of lamb? Who will I bless the presence of during this fine evening meal? I, who will ignite the taste of their dinner. I, who will bring satisfied faces and a rush of goosebumps as I am sipped on.

Dreamy first Date
It’s a warm summer night, its three months into the pandemic, everyone is in quarantine, clubs are closed; restaurants are closed for dining in, and there is no human contact outside of your home. I am a single woman yearning for that male interaction, I decide I will take myself on a date, on my balcony of course. I take a refreshing bath; pull my hair up into a sexy messy bun, put on my hot pink mini silky sun dress, my sexiest lip stick, the sweetest smelling perfume, and my six-inch high heels.

The Celestial Night
Kiska York moved from a small, rural town in Pennsylvania, to the town of Astrid in 2019. The town is as beautiful as its name suggests. Astrid is known for its scenic beaches, birch tree forests, along with its waterfalls and the wildlife that roamed there. The town was a pleasant, warm coastal place with strong family centered values. This place was heaven, especially to Kiska, who was a photographer, and she really enjoyed the local wildlife that would wonder onto her lawn.
