February Date
It was a beautiful sunny yet chilly February afternoon when we decided it was time. We shivered under our coats despite the warmth we felt on our faces, thanks to the rays of sunshine that gently danced through the atmosphere, traveling thousands of miles in space to illuminate our earth. We walked and walked and walked; our feet, the perfect little soldiers that obeyed the orders to move. Left right left they went, but not without occasionally stopping so that our curious hands and eyes could explore the beauty of the place. We had decided to go to the 14th street farmer’s market. Union Square had become our spot. We passed by numerous interesting little tables that sold everything from lavender products to handcrafted alcohol, including bottles and glasses of Merlot, to potted plants. I was a fan of the lavender table and always made him stop there. The lady already knew my face.

Coach Kate's Gambit
“I can taste fish already,” the boy panted as he and two others stalked through the woods in the night, clutching their precious poles and buckets. “Ain’t had nuthin’ since breakfast, and that was just a bowl of mush. So sick of freaking cornmeal mush for breakfast, lunch and din…”

The Date she once dreamed of...
Shirley sighed deeply as she gazed in the bathroom mirror. She would never have believed that her life was going to rocket by at the speed of light... and that she’d be trying and failing to deny the drooping brow and the turkey neck.

Attraction at first sight
The sound of the birds chirping, soaking in vitamin D while drinking hot soothing ginger tea with an amazing view of a gorgeous man dripping sweat during his workout couldn’t be a better way to start Anaila’s morning. “Does he ever look bad?” Anaila asked herself while gazing at him. Lo and behold, Henry starts jogging towards her and she acts like she doesn’t see him. “Are you just gonna stare or join me”? Henry asked with a smirk on his face. “Hmh what? I don’t know what you are talking about”, Anaila said, sipping her tea. Henry chuckled and said, “you can’t feed me that good and not expect me to break a sweat every morning, so let’s make a deal, cooking classes for morning workouts”. Anaila nodded in agreement because all that ran through her mind was how good-looking he was even when drenched in sweat, just sexy.

LOVE
Now they say that we don’t know what love is. What is it really? There are so many different kinds of loves that it is hard to figure out whether the feelings you have are you actually being ‘in love’ or all together one of the other fixations of it that are created by the stability, comfort or happiness that a person has given you. Perhaps you are in love with the idea of being in love; this person is everything that is right, kind and honest, this person holds you together even on your darkest days, this person saves you. Why wouldn’t you be in love with them? Right? We contradict ourselves when we try to choose between our heads and our hearts. The rest of the world tells you how lucky you are to have such an amazing person, someone who loves you so damn much. You agree, although something inside feels rehearsed. We become fixated on what we want, what we can see working and how it will benefit us in the long run. A theoretical pros and cons list. If this person ticks all the boxes, why wouldn’t you be in love with them?

First Impressions
Yvette slumped dejectedly amongst the cast-off outfits that littered her bedroom floor. It had been a long week at work and she’d overestimated what her energy levels would be like on a Friday night. A guy she’d been chatting to on an app had invited her to opening night at a new bar. Conceding it was too late to cancel, she eventually dressed down in an outfit that suited her mood: terracotta culottes and a simple olive skivvy.

Remembering Mr. Wright
I sit down, grabbing a glass of merlot, sipping it with a distant look in my eye. I try to push off the ache in my gut at the loss of Ben… and I keep reminding myself that it’s not a loss. I knew sooner than tonight that he wasn’t the one… but I’m closer to 35 than I was yesterday, and with each day I come closer, the more I seem to settle in every aspect of my life. Ben was just another example of settling… he wasn’t any of the things I really wanted, not when I really think about it. He was decent enough, with a decent enough sense of humor, with a decent enough job, and decent enough at… well, other things. But, since when was ‘decent enough’ really enough?

Thus With a Kiss
It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that any man in need of a dream date with a woman should book an upmarket restaurant, choose a bottle of wine (that is not the first option on the wine list) and ensure there is a candle flickering on the table. Or is it?

In The Mood For Merlot
New Orleans is a city of seafood and spirits. The French Quarter is a famed destination for fun and food. It's also where a southern sweetheart named GiGi worked as a hostess in a new, upscale hotel restaurant called Angel Food Grill. She loved greeting and serving guests from all over the world as they came from near and far for a taste of New Orleans flavor. The restaurant served many unique dishes like red beans and rice, etouffee, and the world famous dish called gumbo. In celebration of Mardi Gras, Angel Food Grill decided to put a deal on a new discount website called PayLess. GiGi decided that it would be a great way to show the new guy in town, Rance, around The Big Easy. Rance, a jazz singer, just moved to New Orleans from New York and had been so busy adjusting that he had not taken time to sight see.

A Shard of Hope
“Alright” they exclaimed to an otherwise unpopulated apartment. “Got almost everything in place, dinner is sitting in the oven. My hair is done…” as Sam trailed off into an anxious mumble to themselves while running through the list they had agonised over all day. Looking at the clock Sam noticed the time creeping ever closer and immediately felt nervous as tension formed a pit in their stomach. Knotting and twisting it began to encroach upon the precarious balance they had been striving to maintain all day long.

Tipsy Treasure
The sky was a shade of peach. The sun was setting, blending into the moonlight's domain. I felt it cast down on me like the twilight shone for me only. My tears flashed like diamonds on my sleeve. I almost broke down again but the sound of piano keys slid across my pinna. It put me in a better mood, like I could get through the rest of the day. Escape the sadness that the previous hour brought to my doorstep. I wanted to leave the past behind me, glide into the club and shine. So I brushed off my blouse, slid my heels off of my feet, and my neck perked up off of my shoulders. I was ready to build a new connection. My chest led me through the red drapes and I walked past security alone. So, the bar called out to me.
