All about dating. First dates, three years into a relationship, Tinder, and more.
Absolute Perfection
It had been a perfect night. Absolute perfection. She sat at her cozy table, sipping her glass of Merlot. The only light illuminating the living room was the moonlight streaming in from the windows. She had opened the windows and curtains before she sat down with her wine to reflect on the wonderful night.

Moments Before
I sat there circling the rim of my glass watching the legs cascade down the inside. The number four reverberates in my mind. Four years since my last date and four years till 40. This date has to go well. Every failed connection pushes my dreams closer to oblivion.

Dry Spell
Olivia Parker was sick of solo living. She tried a few dating sites but it was the same people over and over. Who didn't have mommy issues, daddy issues, abandonment issues, childhood traumas, narcissism, alcoholism… oh the list was endless. She even met someone who lied to her and failed to mention he was living under house arrest. She took a year off and decided to discover who Olivia was and find the love of herself again. She traveled, went to concerts, took up new crafting projects and learned how to bake. But the one thing she missed was someone to share all of that with. "Once more and that's it!” Olivia said to herself as she set up a new profile.

Bring It On
“You look like you were hit by a truck!” Just inside the hastily shut front door to the apartment, Becky’s coat was forming an oily dishwater-gray puddle on the floor at her feet. Her yellow hair, clinging wet to her face, was dripping the same brackish gray bilge. Becky’s expression was flat. Her eyes, like blue thunderheads, peered angrily out from under lowered lids, and it looked comically as if they were raining mascara in dark rivulets down her cheeks.

Ding.
Ding. *New match identified. Proceed?* Brandy blinked sleep out of her eyes at the sound of the gentle alert noise and floated on the surface of consciousness trying to decipher the notification. She balled her fist under the blankets, darn it she had forgotten to turn off notifications for the night.

To Die For
I think I made a mistake by telling Rebecca I used to be suicidal. Not the most alluring of topics to address with someone you’ve only been dating for a little over a month. But she asked me what was on my mind and I promised her I would never lie to her. An argument can be made that omitting things isn’t being untruthful, but it still didn’t sit right with me. In any case, I’m surprised we’re still continuing down this road to a relationship.

Cupid's Lost His Wings
Another day rolls in, another morning in my expensive sea of white sheets, like a single boat floating in the ocean. The sun peaks her head in through the curtains, another beautiful day. Her warmth fills the room, but she doesn’t make me as happy as she used to.

Our Secret
You know how to talk to me by now. You know how to listen. Through wine-soaked lips, I’ve whispered every secret I’ve never told anyone, and you’ve heard them. You’ve kept them. You’ve locked them away until even I have forgotten that I ever told you. I’ve never really thanked you for that. I’ve told you many times that you know everything about me, and I hope I’m right. Because there is one secret I haven’t told anyone. Not even you. And if you know me as well as I think you do, maybe you’ll already have guessed and I won’t have to go through everything I’ve spent all week frantically planning, and cancelling, and rearranging. Maybe, if the last ten years have meant as much to you as they have to me, I won’t need the candles and the fancy meal and the soundtrack. Maybe you already know I love you.

(Day)Dream Date
He wondered what it might be like to be loved by her. Sat alone at a table for two in the centre of the bar they’d agreed to meet at, she was even more beautiful than her pictures could have illustrated. It sounded a cliché, he thought, but it was the most picturesque cliché he’d ever experienced. The early evening sunlight pierced through the dusky windows and spilled across her profile, casting the most idyllic silhouette onto the exposed brick wall behind her. The way her face reflected the light was almost poetic; highlights and shadows bounced across her skin in harmony. She’d pulled her auburn hair back into a loose bun, but a few stray tresses fell back gracefully onto the nape of her neck, and some forward to frame a serene expression on her face. It was a face that brought him peace and inspired adoration, but also a face which spoke of pain and heartache.
