It had been a perfect night. Absolute perfection.

She sat at her cozy table, sipping her glass of Merlot. The only light illuminating the living room was the moonlight streaming in from the windows. She had opened the windows and curtains before she sat down with her wine to reflect on the wonderful night.

She hadn’t meant to meet anyone. After a long day of paperwork and communication failures at work, she decided to get a drink before heading home. Finding a few unoccupied stools at the bar, she settled in and ordered her first drink of the night. Glancing around the bar for some much-needed distraction, she sipped her drink and observed the growing crowd in the bar.

The moment he entered the bar, her eyes immediately gravitated to him. It was impossible for anyone to ignore him. Tall with unruly dark hair just shy of demanding a haircut, his mere presence demanded notice. She ordered another drink and continued to watch him from afar. He wore an infectious smile on his face, speaking animatedly to everyone he crossed paths with.

He continued to circle around the bar. A social butterfly. Laughing with men, flirting with women. Never staying with one group for too long. As the night continued, she noticed women politely turning him down. With each revolution of the bar, he came closer to her until finally, when he approached the bar for a refill, he stood tall next to her. She waited, wondering if she would make his notice. And then it happened. From the corner of his eye, he noticed her, sitting alone and sipping her drink. He turned toward her, leaning casually against the bar. His eyes swept over her, from head to toe and back again, lingering on certain assets she was glad were on display. A slick smile curled his lips and he finally asked, “So what are you drinking?”

She sighed dreamily as she recalled that fateful moment at the bar. Taking another sip of her wine, she stared down at her latest conquest; he lay drained on the ground. A weak hand stretched out to grab her leg. Crossing her leg to keep it from his pleading reach, she chuckled and met his eyes. Big, beautiful eyes, beseeching her. Her heart rate skyrocketed; she was insatiable.

At the bar they sat close and spoke softly, so softly they had to lean in to hear over the din of the bar. As the night progressed, they inched closer and closer. Plying her with drinks and compliments, the occupants of the bar around them seemed to disappear. An intimate bubble forming around them, separating the couple from interruptions and distractions, and allowing for a tantalizing interlude of breathy whispers and almost touches. A brush of his hand on her leg, she watched him coyly through her eyelashes, understanding his intentions for the night. He leaned in and whispered in her ear, “my place or yours?”

The drive to her house had been a long and seductive one. A graze of a hand, hot breath on her neck, a nibble of her ear. The slow build of arousal had forged to an inextinguishable blaze. They hurried to her door, his hand at the small of her back guiding her. As soon as the door closed, he thrust her against it, kissing her hard. Her hands roamed over his body, finding their way to the buttons of his shirt. His hand found the hem of her dress, pushing it higher and higher. They would never make it to the bedroom.

Stumbling to the small dining room, he sat her on the table, kissing a searing path from her ear to her cleavage. She leaned back, enjoying the sensation. His clever hands found the way beneath her dress and manipulated her expertly. He worked her up again, caressing and stroking her, bringing her closer and closer to the ecstasy she craved. As they approached the impending climax, her hand reached back, groping for what she would soon need. Triumphantly, she grasped it, waiting for their moment.

She leaned forward and ran a hand down his chest to his stomach, then around to his back and up to his shoulder. Widening her knees, she wrapped her legs around him, bring him closer as he did the same for her. Stroke by stroke, she was so close to that elusive pinnacle, and then she plunged into euphoria. Gripping him tighter and panting wildly, she kept her eyes fixed on his. The arrogant look transformed to surprise. He stumbled back, a hand going to his chest over his heart as he crumbled to the ground.

A gurgled cough interrupted her reminiscing. She stared down at the man who had turned her horrible day into a glorious night. He lay on the ground, nearly motionless. A beautiful pool of ruby red matching her Merlot slowly flooded around him as the light disappeared from his eyes and he stared blankly at her. Their first date was finally over.

It had been months since the last time and exactly what she needed. Swirling the wine in her glass, she took another sip, basking in the slight aroma of vanilla, cloves, and copper. It had been a perfect night.

Absolute. Perfection
