She saw something sparkling on the hill. It looked like a giant diamond. When they got closer she saw it was a glass domed house reflecting the light of the sitting sun. It was magnificent. She wouldn’t be here if she had not ended her marriage of 12 years with two kids 11 and 8, listened to her friend Sally’s suggestion that they take a college class together. Sally was trying to help her move on with her life. So they took together, a romantic poetry class.

On the way to her first class meeting a spring shower cloud burst brought drenching down pouring rain. Rushing to get out of the wet weather., she was hurrying around the corner of a building and bumped into a dashing man with daring blue eyes and curly brown hair. She dropped all her books. He immediately apologized and bent down with her to help her pick them up.

It’s perfectly fine, she exclaimed, it was my fault.

Then

their hands touched, she looked into his eyes and knew he felt same thrill that she was feeling. Forcing herself to look away, she gathered all her books with his help and rushed away, leaving him standing in the rain watching her slowly go up the stairs. When he came into her class and introduced himself as her teacher she went into in a slight state of shock but quickly recovered with a smile, and when he saw her a surprise look was casted her way. His name was Michael. Dr. Michael Thomas.

She was instantly attracted to him. He was perfect! She always manage to sat up front and always prepared. She soon became one of the top students . One day she was taking a test and looked up to find him standing in the doorway staring at her. Their eyes met and some silent electrical charged flew across the room. Secretly in her heart she knew their was something happening between them.

Yet she cautioned herself, she had two children, not young as the others girls and only had a college degree- not a PhD like him- when she finally stop beating up on herself, her doubts had won with just a ting of hope dangling.

Later from one of the girls in her class that it became know to her that he wasn’t married. That was pretty obvious for there was not one male student in the class and all the girls had that silly adoring look on their faces watching him teach each day.

They would all flocked to talk to him after class, as she silently moved to the door.

Now here she was at the ending of her summer class coming with her friend to a small party of celebration given by their teacher at his friend’s home in the desert., she had totally given up any hope of a future with her handsome teacher even though she dreamed of him almost every night. She looked forward to seeing him for the last time.

Her friend drove her car up the gravels in the driveway where a number of other college students cars were parked. The front yard was filled with blooming cactus plants. An Woman in her early 60 answered the door. She obviously was the housekeeper, with demurring attitude welcomed them.

They stepped inside noticing most of the crowd were outside on the wooden patio which had a elegant table on it filled with a variety of delicious looking dishes. The whole house was made into a circle with all glass walls . A circular white leather sofa and a massive white stone fireplaces dominated the living room. Tall candles were lit inside and flaming torches outside. The view of the desert was fantastic from watch could be seen by her from the floor to ceiling windows.

She turned to see that her teacher saw her from across the room. He came over and told them he was glad they made it.

He took them over and introduced them to the owner of the house and his lovely wife.

He was an retired teacher from the university. There were two other students - and another lady teacher, who she wasn’t familiar with .

Sally went with her out the sliding glass doors onto the wooden patio, then excused herself and went over talking to one of the other students. The view of the desert with the Rocky Mountains in the background was breath taking. A heat haze was shimmering over the dry sand and blue green bushes on the desert floor that spread beyond the openly from the back yard.

The sun had began to slowly sink behind the rugged mountains. There was a fire pit blazing surrounded by a circle of stone seating. She sat down gazing into the flames. She remembered that saying about how the moth couldn’t stay away from the flame . Dr. Michael came over and sat next to her. The torches was the only light made the area romantic and exciting. There were blankets on the seating. Dr. Michael offered one to her. The air has got a little chilly so she gladly accepted. got He helped her wrap it around her shoulder.

Thank you Dr. Michael she said.

Oh please call me Michael.

Okay - she said with a surprised snd pleased look .

The sun was sinking magically in glorious colors of gold and orange behind the mountains.

From the first time he had encountered her, there was something about her that seem to excite him more than any other woman he had ever know.

“I was hoping you would come tonight,”he said.

“You always seem to avoid me—

She turned her face to his, trying not to show her surprise.

I’m glad I came also.

They sat silently watching the fire dancing in the windy cool breeze. Then lightening started in the mountain. Nature put on a fabulous thrilling show as lightening darted back and forth over the mountains. Everyone were thrilled and talked about the beauty of the magnificent sight when Suddenly their voices became distant as he gently took her hand in his. She felt time stood still and they were alone together in a dazzling world of glaring light.

Lets go for a walk he whispered in her ear. Dora followed behind him as he gently pulled her with him down the dirt trail leading from the house into the desert.

After some time, he said, I know you know that I’m attracted to you - .

You are a beautiful woman, he said.

A mature beautiful woman!

She suddenly pulled her hand away from his-

There is something I think I should tell you-I have two children aand I recently divorced.

Really? You do? That is amazing - I have two children also. They are in their teens and live with my divorced wife!

Oh I didn’t know! I thought you were a bachelor and never been married.

See, we have lots in common already.

What do you say we- Well-he hesitated.

Yes- yes let’s do!! She eagerly replied.

You see, there is a play at our local theater - well now that you are technically not my student anymore- would you

Like to go ?

He stopped and looked down at her. A smile broke out on his face as she stood there with adoring eyes looking up at him. He quickly bent down and his mouth found hers. After a long and mutually enjoyable kiss they released each other.

Clinging to each other, they boldly slowly walked back to the glass domed house.
