Sometimes you want to change jobs. You've capped yourself, you do the same things every day, the routine comes in and, at some point, you want something else, so you're getting ready to leave your current job.

How should you resign, what should you do, say, or not? We've all probably asked ourselves these questions, but we don't know if we've done the right thing.

An employee has the right to decide when he wants to terminate his employment contract. The resignation will contain the employee's statement, and the employer will comply with the initial conditions regarding the notification of the decision, the salary, and the final benefits.

As for the resignation, the truth is that there is no special formula: it can only be submitted in writing, possibly by sending a registered letter, ie a letter with acknowledgment of receipt, in order to avoid any further litigation during the period of legal leave and beginning of the notice.

Probably every time you had a harder day at the office, you calmed down thinking that you could always say you were resigning. However, it is necessary to think ten times before making such a decision.

Bad days, unpleasant situations

There are many days when we felt that we could no longer cope with the responsibilities, there are probably many small tasks presented in the job description that we do not like. The job of our dreams, however, cannot give us satisfaction day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute.

Do not make the decision to file for resignation immediately after an unpleasant incident. Stress speaks for itself and often negative emotions take precedence over reason. Wait for a day or two to pass, talk to someone you trust so you can look at the whole situation.

Financial stability

How long do you think you will find a new job? A week, two, a month? Do you have money set aside to handle it for at least a month? Think that the next salary will come only after a month spent at the new job.

If you make the decision during this period, then it will be much more difficult to find a job during the holidays. Job offers are not too numerous at the end of the year and in the summer.

Discrimination against the unemployed?

It is much more difficult to find a job when you are not employed. Prospective employers will be very interested in the reasons why you decided to resign. They are not willing to invest in a person who does not seem to be able to make long-term commitments.

Salary negotiation

Once you are already employed and participating in an interview for a new job, you can negotiate your salary more efficiently. You will not be able to leave for a salary lower than the one you already have. Instead, when you need a job, you are willing to compromise.

Career reorientation

You have decided that the current field of activity does not suit you. You want something else! You think that you have always been attracted to a certain field, but you have not yet had the opportunity or the courage to experiment.

Our advice is not to make major career changes until you have tested your skills in the desired field of activity. Document yourself, test your skills, and only then make a decision.

Maybe you shouldn't resign

Think carefully if the problems you have at the office are not repairable. Many times we avoid conflicts, we avoid contradictory discussions and, in the end, we avoid problems thinking that they will disappear by themselves or that they cannot be solved.

If we avoid a certain type of problem, we will always face it. Sometimes, we have to say clearly what displeases us and look for solutions with the employer, boss, subordinates, or colleagues. Whether the problem is professional or personal - clashes between different personalities - there is often a less extreme solution.

Think hard before resigning, visualize your life after you quit your job, consider every aspect, give yourself time and give another job a chance before you say, "I'm resigning today!"
