This will ensure that you are happy and successful into your old age.

Without it, your golden years are going to be a blurred one. No matter how much money you have, your life will be empty. Luxury can be bought. You can buy sex, and you can also buy Instagram followers.

But you can't buy love.

You may find it obvious after hearing my answer. You are absolutely correct. LOVE.

Although the great secrets to success in life are simple, they can be difficult. How can we nurture love if it is the key to success?

Do We Already Have Love?

We love our parents, our spouses and significant others, as well as our extended families and our pets.

Where is the love? My wife makes a snide comment and I feel like I'm exploding.

What is love? When someone honks at you, I flip the bird.

It could lead to a dangerous tailgating situation if you raise your finger. It could lead to death on the freeway, grief for families, and a severing of lives.

Imagine if I could learn to love the driver and not hate him. It could save my life, and my family endless pain. It would cost me absolutely nothing.

How can we cultivate love, happiness and peace?

How to cultivate love and happiness?

This is a crucial question. The answer is straightforward. Through cultivating inner peace, we can cultivate love and happiness.

You want to increase your love capacity so that you have more to share.

It's simple.

It might be too easy for most people. We want answers that include white lab coats or MRIs. We need preapproval from a trusted authority.

In this instance, is the authority.

Take a spiritual path and look inside.

You can only find love and happiness within yourself. They are born from the inside of our hearts and minds, where we love and nurture love. That's where happiness and success grow.

Only you can look within yourself, feel your emotions, and take a mental inventory.

It's always okay to be there. It's what's happening right now.

Be comfortable with looking within yourself every single day. Meditation gives you a status update of your mental health.

Meditation is one way to achieve this. Mindful exercise, yoga, tai-chi, prayer, and any other wholesome mindful discipline can also be effective.

Every day, swim laps in the deep blue silence. You can walk alone, just you and your thoughts. Yoga can help you explore your body and mind.

Alone. In silence. Every day.

You can cultivate love and happiness by getting to know yourself.

Practice, Practice and Practice

Do it daily, no matter what your spiritual practice. Meditation is not something you can learn in one week.

It is a lifetime practice. You will never be a perfect meditator. This is not the point. It is not a contest.

Think of meditation as an Olympic sport. Ridiculous right? This is the perfect recipe for low ratings.

It took me over a year to master the precise choreographed movements and postures in the 13-minute sequence of tai Chi.

It took me a year to learn the sequence. Yet, once I knew the sequence I was able to use it every day to return to stillness.

It is a lifetime pursuit to practice mindfulness. It is never finished.

To become more mindful, all you have to do is to practice each day. You can improve at your own pace by practicing mindfulness. When mindfulness is integrated into everyday life, it will become a part of your daily routine. It will be a benefit to you and all those you meet.

Mindfulness is the ability to be still, and stillness can lead to present moment awareness. Love is present moment awareness.

Yesterday, I went to lab for tests. I was required to wait 15 minutes. Instead of reaching for my phone, a book or my laptop as I used to do, I sat down and practiced mindful breathing.

For more than a full year, I have been meditating every day. Although I am not a great meditator, I have become more mindful than ever before. I am happier and more successful.

Albert Einstein wrote this simple advice to a young bellman in his hotel.

"A tranquil and modest life is more joyful than the pursuit of success with constant restlessness." -- Albert Einstein

Mindfulness is Love Itself.

Mindfulness is the energy that is present and in the now. You can vibrate nowness when you are mindful.

You know where to go, what you should do and how to get there. You are a highly skilled worker.

You are living in the real world, not inside your head.

Thich Nhat Hanh stated, "When you drink tea, drink it." . . don't drink your suffering."

We lose all our mindfulness if we lose it. We spend and make money in ways that are harmful to ourselves and others. We misuse our fame to destroy ourselves and other people. Our military might is used to destroy other people and ourselves.

Listen to others and just listen. Listen with all of your heart and lean in to someone. Listen to their thoughts and not try to negate them.

You can practice mindfulness to learn how to do this. Everyone you meet can benefit from your ability to bring healing and love.
