Moral Vs Monetary

Survival or Purpose

By Kaylon ForsythPublished 8 days ago 3 min read

I have been alone now, for 5 years, and in that time I have learned that loneliness is much different than solitude. Living alone is something that does not have to create a sense of loneliness, if the time that is spent is in the pursuit of something productive. I have learned in my time without my wife, that being alone, can give one time to delve into self discovery, and create a lasting spiritual connection, if the time is used in the pursuit of such things. I am seeing with clarity at this point, that true enduring relationships, seem to be becoming a thing of the past, as the culture that we are living in is leaning further in the direction of a hookup culture, if not one that is more focused on personal development opposed to the traditional western life, that the majority of people have been used to.

I am currently in the process of deciding whether I want to put forth my energy towards continuing my education with 100 percent commitment, or to perhaps delve into the realm of developing a new relationship, yet I have already in my opinion, and experience, had the best of what a person could hope for a relationship to offer. I had such wonderful times with my late wife, although we had many trials as well, I am considering becoming fully devoted to my spiritual path, as well as my career path. I have had the fulfilling love and compassion which a relationship can offer, so in all honesty, I don't believe I can ever hope to receive such a blessing again, yet if I did, I would actually feel somewhat guilty, due to the fact, I would feel as though I was taking that opportunity for true love, from someone else.

Focusing on my career, is what will help me to achieve the goals that I have set for myself, not just in the short term, but also in the long run. I am very committed to living a life of service, and helping others, to not only become the best versions of themselves, but to help them through the trials that this life can bring. It doesn't matter so much what you choose to do in this life, as long as it is morally and ethically upright, and does not cause harm to another, as well as of course, has the capacity to bring emotional fulfillment, as well as provide the financial necessity to survive in this world that is driven by money. I feel like there is another way we can live, that departs from this traditional way of living, in regards to money, and instead gets back to the true meaning of a profession, which is of course, to not only provide a service, but take part in something that you can be proud of.

I truly feel, that if the monetary factor was taken away from a profession and the profession was practiced under different circumstances, the desire to work that profession would be one, that runs right down to the core of the person practicing. Take medicine for instance, If a person was practicing medicine, but was not doing so for monetary gain, they would be doing so for the ultimate reason, of helping another to heal, instead of having the focus of the practice be geared towards the financial compensation that could be claimed through such a practice. I feel like the money a person makes in whatever profession they are going for, is in many cases, the driving factor behind why that profession is chosen, and when someone is practicing medicine they need to ultimately have the welfare of the individual they are treating, being the final factor that decides the quality of the treatment given, not the amount of money that can be made.

In my opinion, money takes away the integrity of nearly anything it is tied to, unless the individual practicing that profession has a strong set of morals and ethics, which they use to offset the potential greed that money can cause to form.

Brightest Blessings.
