Gachagua to Mama Ngina ....Kindly forgive us for 2022

Mama Ngina, please pardon us for our insults in 2022. Gachagua

Mama Ngina Kenyatta, the mother of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has received an apology from Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for the disagreement that transpired in 2022.

Gachagua conveyed regret for the impolite actions directed at Mama Ngina during the intensified political fervor of the last general election.

He said these things on Monday at his Karen home during an interview with Kameme FM.Recognizing the contentious political climate of the day, he underlined the value of harmony and mutual respect among the Mount Kenya community.

He vowed to maintain respect for elders while working to promote harmony and mend the divisions left by previous political battles.

Politics had gotten so bad by 2022 that it was abhorrent. I apologize deeply for the unfortunate disrespect that was shown toward Mama Ngina, including the insults that were directed at her. We respectfully ask for her pardon," Gachagua stated.

He underlined Uhuru's important position in the Kikuyu community and reiterated the need to respect him.

He noted that Uhuru should also be respected and expressed his excitement to meet leaders from Azimio or any other association.

"We adore him; he is our son. I told the local leaders to stop criticizing the former president. We still love him, and even if he did us harm, it doesn't matter because what we really need is for our people to live in peace and togetherness, said Gachagua.

Gachagua promised to advance a national culture of harmony and respect and denounced the divisive techniques used during the 2022 elections. He urged the people of Mount Kenya to come together and speak with a single voice, stressing the value of taking lessons from previous divides.

"My goal is to establish connections with all the leaders in the Mount Kenya area, such as church leaders and community elders. Some individuals in the government have been subtly criticizing me, so I always reach out to them in private and try to find a solution," he said.

He called on the elders to bring the community together, saying that the Mount Kenya area would not take the chance of speaking in disparate voices since doing so would cause progress to be delayed.

The DP emphasized that in 1992, the region was split down the middle and urged the people to reject any attempts to create discord among them.

He added that at the time, Nairobi, Kiambu, Murang'a, and Nyandarua backed Kenneth Matiba, while Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, and Nyandarua supported Mwai Kibaki.

In an attempt to integrate them for the purpose of unity, Gachagua has declared that he is prepared to meet with the elders of the Mount Kenya region.

Kung'u Muigai, Uhuru's cousin, told the Star on Friday that people who advocate for regional unity need to be acknowledged and encouraged.

According to Kung'u, there was a significant split following the very contentious 2022 election, with some elders supporting the Kenya Kwanza administration while others were in Azimio.

It's imperative that we band together and back our leaders. For the sake of creating a strong Mount Kenya unity, Gachagua need to carry on with his unity efforts, Kung'u stated.Regarding the fallout in 2022, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed regret to Mama Ngina Kenyatta, the mother of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

During a Monday morning roundtable interview with journalists from the Mt Kenya area, the DP clarified that the lawmakers were taken over by the nationwide political upheaval that was occurring at the time.He said that certain lawmakers have lost respect for the former First Lady as a result of the current environment.

Politics in 2022 had gotten so shady. We had disrespected Mama Ngina to the point where it was out of control, the DP informed the media.

"I wouldn't want the people of Mount Kenya to ever again reach a place where we don't honor our elders." I would want to seek Mama Ngina for her pardon."

In response to a question about whether he would approach former President Uhuru Kenyatta for a ceasefire meeting to discuss the future of politics in the Mount Kenya region, Gachagua said, "These things solve themselves."

A few months prior to the August general election, in March 2022, some leaders attacked the former first lady, setting off a chain reaction across the nation.

Kenya Kwanza officials at the time encouraged Mama Ngina to stay out of politics after she counseled her son's followers to take his political lead.

"Uhuru didn't have an issue with DP Ruto, but would you stay there if your deputy treated you disrespectfully? The former First Lady gave advice at the time, saying, "You will move on."

At the time, Uhuru had backed former prime minister Raila Odinga's candidacy for president over that of William Ruto, his then-deputy.

"I hope she stays out of politics." Senator Samson Cherargei of Nandi said, "Stay in the firing line if she decides to play politics when the field gets crowded."

Later, women's leaders called for an apology from the Kenya Kwanza leaders, claiming that their words were an insult to the country's head of state at the time.

BBI Guidance

Gachagua further disclosed in the interview that hubris was the reason for the failure of Uhuru and Raila's Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

"BBI's supporters were haughty, pounding their chests and told us it would be shoved down our throats like medication, which is why it failed. We would have thought about passing it if they had handled the whole thing with dignity," he said.
