"Immortality has always been an enticing pursuit, a recurring theme in movies where kings and rulers are consumed by their quest for the elusive elixir of eternal life. But is immortality all it's cracked up to be? Let's delve into this thought-provoking concept and uncover the complexities lurking beneath the surface.

Envision a ten-year-old boy, for whom a single year represents a monumental 10% of his brief existence. Now, contrast this with his forty-year-old mother, for whom the same year is a mere 2.5% of her life. It's a stark reminder that the passage of time can feel drastically different for individuals at various stages of their lives.

Now, imagine that this young boy manages to survive for a mind-boggling 30,000 years. To him, a single year might feel as fleeting as a mere day. But what about his emotions? Can he sustain them through the eons, bravely facing the ever-present specter of loneliness, knowing that he will outlive everyone he has ever loved?

Consider a world where everyone is granted the gift of immortality. Yet, we must grapple with the fact that our planet, Earth, has limited space. The logistics of accommodating an ever-expanding immortal population become a formidable challenge. (Grunts) "Excuse me!" "That's my face!" "Stop it!" "Pardon me." "Tight in here!" The world suddenly becomes overcrowded, and the simple act of navigating daily life becomes a chaotic ordeal.

We all have memories from our past, but here's the question: How much of those memories have we forgotten? Our brains have finite capacity, forcing us to replace obsolete memories with fresh, pertinent information. If our immortal boy seeks love once every century, he would accumulate ten thousand soulmates over a million years. The stark reality is that he may not even remember the names of these ten thousand companions. This transformation redefines what constitutes a meaningful relationship.

Another intriguing facet of immortality lies in the realm of human evolution. Darwin's theory of evolution explains how certain traits, such as height, become favored and perpetuated in the gene pool. If you're the solitary immortal in a world perpetually evolving, you'll find yourself looking remarkably different from the ever-changing populace. "Hi, how you doing?" The world around you may seem increasingly alien.

Consider our evolutionary ancestors, the short, hairy apes. If one of them were still alive today, would people befriend it or swiftly notify the Museum of Natural History? It's a perplexing question.

Now, let's turn our attention to the physical toll of immortality. Immortality doesn't equate to invincibility; it simply means you can't die. Take a moment to examine your body and count your scars. If you've amassed this many permanent scars in your current lifetime, imagine the wear and tear you'd accumulate after a thousand years. In the United States, approximately 185,000 amputation-related hospital discharges occur each year. While the percentage remains low relative to the total population for individuals with a mere century of life, the odds become considerably less favorable for the immortal. Consider crucial appendages such as eyes, nose, ears, fingers, toes, and teeth. What are the odds of maintaining dental health for a hundred years, a thousand years, or even a million years? The likelihood is that you may eventually resemble a well-worn, scuffed-up Mr. Potato Head, with missing pieces and dentures.

So, the question lingers: Do you genuinely desire immortality? As we ponder the implications of living forever, we're forced to grapple with these intricate aspects of an eternity that may be far less glamorous than it initially appears. Now, which captivating superpower physics lesson shall we explore next? Whether it's altering body size and composition, achieving super speed, flight, superhuman strength, immortality, or perhaps the power of invisibility, the choice is yours."
