Bad habits that ruin your brain

Bad habits that ruin your brain

By Julio JavierPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Your brain is like the boss of your body. It helps you do everything from seeing to feeling to thinking. It's located in your head and is the most complicated part of your body. In fact, there are billions of tiny cells called neurons in your brain that help it work. These neurons talk to each other using special fibers called axons. It's like a big game of telephone! The brain sends messages to different parts of your body using these axons.

Did you know that your brain is super important for your survival? It's like the powerhouse of your body's thinking and learning abilities. But did you also know that there are some habits that can actually harm your brain? Yup, it's true! Some habits can make your brain cells weaker and make it harder for them to talk to each other. This can lead to serious brain diseases. But don't worry, there are things you can do to keep your brain healthy! One thing is to challenge your brain by doing things that make you think, like learning new things or playing games. Another thing is to make sure you drink enough water to keep your brain hydrated. When you're dehydrated, your brain can shrink and not work as well. So, make sure you take care of your brain by doing things that keep it healthy!

Did you know that stress can be really bad for your brain and body? Sometimes when we're really busy or overwhelmed, we push our stress away instead of dealing with it. But that can actually be harmful in the long run! Chronic stress, which means stress that lasts a long time, can change the way your brain works and even lead to mental health problems like depression and anxiety. Yikes! So it's important to take care of yourself and find ways to manage your stress.

Oh, and speaking of taking care of your brain, did you know that eating too much salt can be bad for it? Crazy, right? A study found that high levels of salt can cause a protein in your brain to clump together, which is linked to diseases like Alzheimer's. So it's a good idea to try to eat less salt and make healthy choices for your brain. Your future self will thank you!

Do you ever try to do a bunch of things at once? Some people are good at it, but others find it really hard. Even though it might seem like you're getting more done, doing too many things at once can actually make your work worse. With all the technology we have now, it's easy to get distracted and try to do too much. Studies have shown that when you multitask, you can't pay as much attention and your brain doesn't work as well. It can even change the way your brain is built! So it's better to focus on one thing at a time if you want to do your best work. And if you spend too much time looking at screens, that's not good for your brain either. So try to take breaks and do other things too!

Did you know that using screens too much can actually hurt your brain? People who use screens a lot might have smaller parts of their brain called the cortex. This can make it harder to think and might even cause mental health problems. Also, did you know that how you sit can affect your brain too? If you slouch or hunch over, it can make it harder for your brain to get the oxygen and nutrients it needs. Plus, when people sit up straight, they remember good things better than bad things. So, it's important to sit up straight and take breaks from screens to keep your brain healthy.
