Moments in Time

When you take a moment, What are you doing? Are you planning? Suggesting? Being a role model? Contemplating? Do you stop to hear a fine tune? Can you smell a fine tune? Are you Loony Tunes? Do you notice an unusual smell? Are you unusual? Do your senses take your breathe away? When you take a moment, do you notice the simple things? Are you farfetched? Simple? Demanding? Anal? Nice? Mean? Incredible? Employable? When you take a moment are your deeds noticeable? Do you know what a deed is? Did your mother leave you a last wish involving a Deed? Did your father? What is your wish? Your desire? Your innermost fear? What are your strengths? Weaknesses? What compels you? When you take a moment, what does it mean to you?

Nothing like a good story to read, when we take a moment. An evil villain, a heroic character, or even a blissful love story; the ones that make you blush and never end. We all take our own moments. Take a moment with me, a quick moment, just a moment. Where the clock is almost striking the minute before a bill is due. The moment, minute, instant when it's 4:59 PM and you have an obligation, a contract for 5:00 or its lights out. You know that moment, we've all been there. It's a moment in time that you can't get back. The last second in the land of eternity. That moment is no more, it exists only in a fairy tale, our wildest dreams, or scariest nightmare. Expanding into the universe only to be a memory to you, one you take to heart, and will never forget. I had a moment like that once in my life some years ago. A newbie to the workforce, the renter force, the responsibility force. A moment in adulthood when careless thoughts and moments existed no more (at least that's what society norms perfect). A sudden moment when I was down and at my wits end. "Hitting rock bottom" sort of speaking. A moment that projected and embedded itself into a vast mental bucket of memories, woes, and songs. A moment exiled from family, no communication. A moment when I was wealthy and could talk or invite myself into any social elite status or community event. A moment molded into nostalgic living, the epitome of every Southerner's dream. I was that moment, a moment needed. A moment deserved, a moment not taken for granted. Visualize this moment with me, enact at a higher frequency. Place yourself upon the porch and look amongst the magnolia leaves that bud and sprout from the trees, their color mimicking the big white plantation mansion. Smell them and look into the Carolina blue sky. Imagine having this moment.

A moment where there is only a minute to spare. A trade for moments of darkness that you can live without. I lived that moment. Have you? What could have been a moment of turmoil, turned into a moment of possibilities. It turned into a moment of an eldest, rekindling a mother relationship after weary years. It turned into a moment of acceptance, happiness, and spirituality. A moment kept and tucked away into a little black notebook, a minute before the deadline. Oddly enough, entering into that moment came with a regular doorway, a family member that passed through. No wave, or "Hello". A fast act of paying it forward before the deadline. A simple moment, a moment I knew would captivate the faces I noticed coming out, as I was going in.

"I'm late". I thought; they are going to cut my lights off. That moment when I made it in before the security guard locked the door, and before the air of its closing hit my back. "Whew" I made it. I thought! I am so thankful I made it. One of the best counters since Estee', your kitchen, or First Union. Wouldn't you be thankful too? Have you ever had a moment like this? Have you ever found cold hard cash like this?

Someone screams! Yes, I did! This one time, after a serious battle, a holiday battle. A battle after trimming the tree, stocking the chimneys. opening gifts and popcorn stringing. A horrible Christmas Eve. Looking into their lover's eyes, you don't deserve this, something good will happen to you. Have you taken a moment, and made your own prophecy?

Now, back to our reality. The counter, the bill. Have you had a moment like this? A moment in time where you find cold, hard cash? It only happens to the best of us. The best of us who win the lottery, the best of us who randomly pick a number and wake up instantly rich, filthy rich. This moment in time it fuels the same fine tune. Can you hear the tune? What does it sound like? It sounds like the hands of a clock ticking. It sounds and looks like the swaying and hard work of a teller's hands, a transaction register. It sounds like the stillness of a quiet library. Stern associates ready for depart at 5:00 PM. It sounds like the sound of cheat paper in college. The notebook slid under a bill to mask its owner who may beat on the door begging security to open it once more. Have you had a moment like this? It feels hot, as sweat rolls off your forehead, scalp tingling because you know you hit the jackpot, whatever pot it is. It's steamy, fulfilling! Anger rages for the associate who can't seem to print your receipt fast enough. Maybe she placed the money here in the notebook to betray me. Making it look like I found it and tucked it, safely away. Saving it for my own well being. That moment glares at you like the eyes of the camera recording your moves holding the little black notebook.

It's the "Pursuit of Happiness" as you grab your receipt and calmly retreat, like you are sailing on the West African or Maui Pacific Coast. Instead you are walking to your car where you can't wait to pull the latch to sit. The top down, music off, and sunset. A shimmer of Sun to twinkle slightly onto the small black notebook you've stumbled upon. You count! At that moment in time. That moment which leads to no seat belt, no laws. As a Good Samaritan, you just stare with ease. The easiest thing you've ever done. A moment in time you are stunned. A moment where all you have is you, yourself, you are one. The universe has once again proved your existence. The fine tune you read about earlier. Can you hear it? You count twenty-thousand dollars and scream with glee. Born again at that moment in time. Have you had this moment?
